Our group of 20+ business colleagues has stayed at the Hotel Drei Raben for a week each March over the past six years, when we visit Nuremberg for an international trade show. We wouldn't consider staying elsewhere; in fact, we moved to the Drei Raben from another hotel nearby. The hotel is lovely - an intimate boutique venue with a modern, upbeat and welcoming feel. It is a short block and a half walk from the main train station (Hauptbahnhof), and inside the walls of the charming "old city." The rooms, as well as common areas, are spotlessly clean, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. While the building dates back hundreds of years, everything has been modernized, including the terrific bathrooms. The beds are extremely comfortable, with terrific pillows and fluffy duvets that remind you that you are in Europe. Some of the junior suites have claw-foot bathtubs; and all the rooms have some of the historic Nuremberg 'lore' stenciled decoratively on the walls. The lobby/bar is fun and relaxing in the evening at the end of a long day. And the breakfast buffet (you can also order from the menu) is one of the finest we've had in Europe. Regardless of whether you travel alone or in a group, you are soon 'family' and the staff is eager to make your stay enjoyable. Ralf, the front desk manager, goes out of his way to anticipate restaurants you might enjoy and places you might like to visit. He'll also debate politics with you, if you like. :-) One year, our luggage was held up for days by German customs for reasons unknown, and we eventually needed help from the U.S. State Dept. But it was Ralf who figured out how to get the luggage transported to the hotel from where it was finally released in an obscure and remote location. That kind of personal service is 'routine' at Drei Raben, and that's incredibly valuable to foreign travelers. My husband and I travel a lot internationally, and we only stay at the finest places..... Drei Raben in Nuremberg is definitely at the top of our list.....!

Staying at this hotel really is an experience - this is definitely one of the most creative boutique hotels I ever stayed in. While these days a lot of places go "trendy" and overdue it or look great but disappoint service-wise, this hotel also offers very friendly and helpful service, free wifi and a good breakfast. The theme "lengends of Nuremberg" connects the rooms in a great way to the city and the historic building in which they are located. Location is also a plus - downtown and just a few steps from Nuremberg central station makes this a very convenient place to stay. Definitely a hotel to come back to, and even by itself reason enough to visit Nuremberg once in a while!

Recently spent SB in Germany. This was by far the best place we stayed. Close to the Central Station and very short walk (less than 2 minutes). After recommendation from Rick Steve’s, called from a late train out of Munich and got two rooms for 3 adults and 2 teenagers. Rooms were unusual in an eccentric way, bathtub middle of one room and graffiti wall in other. Kids loved both. Managers were helpful all around for directions, restaurants, and suggestions. I almost forgot, breakfast and free wi-fi. Would definitely stay there again.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Drei Raben in Nuernberg in July 2010 because of the very strong and positive reviews on Trip Advisor. To begin with, this is at best a two star hotel and nothing more. We stayed in one of the Junior Suites and did not sleep a wink for 3 nights because of an in room cooling unit that sounded like a thrashing machine and did not shut off once because it was insufficient to generate a comfortable temperature. The bathroom was small and the shower stall impossible for a good sized man to stand in. The headboard of the bed was made of stone making it impossible to sit in the bed. Why anyone would think a claw type bathtub in the middle of a room would be an enhancement is beyond me.

The personal was indeed very nice. Breakfast was adequate and service excellent. Location is great but for god's sake don't allow people to think they are booking a four star hotel. It is not and neither location nor friendliness of staff can make it one.

After booking out of the Maximilian Hotel which offered a rock hard single bed and alleged "pillow" I booked into the Drei Raben - what a difference! This place has a lot going for it - a warm welcome, sophisticated modern design (although the extensive use of orange made the place seem like an homage to Abba from the 70s), excellent breakfast, comfortable beds and quiet rooms.

WiFi was included at no cost, as was an excellent cold or hot (on request) breakfast.

The hotel could not be more central - it is a short walk to the Christmas Market and even nearer to the central station. If you land at Nuremberg airport it's easy to take the train and you're steps away from this hotel.

There were lots of great little touches like a booklet containing legends of Nuremberg, and even text on the room ceiling (in German) of German folk tales involving the three ravens (the Drei Raben).

After staying in American chain hotels the Drei Raben was a truly welcoming place - I felt like I was really staying in Nuremberg and not in a room that could have been anywhere in the world.

We stayed at this hotel after a river cruise in order to see the christmas market. It's a great small hotel with friendly service and intersting rooms. We had the sports room with a view of the street (old city) and it was great. The staff was very helpful, breakfast was fine, room was clean and very well appointed. I would recommend it.

Not only is this hotel charming itself, but the staff is top notch! We stayed in the Albrecht Durer room , The comfort of the bed was delightful after staying in low, hard beds elsewhere in germany. The bathroom floor was heated and the bathroom itself was a nice surprise as well! The night we were there they had a free wine tasting - another nice surprise! The hotel is just in the middle of the shopping area, close to all the great churches and extremely close to the Christmas Markets! If you are looking for a unique experience - do choose this lovely hotel. You will be glad you did - we are!
