“Great hotel in the old city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2012

Very nice new hotel within the old city. 5 minute walk to the subway station and 2 stops to the main train station. The red light district mentioned in another review is a few blocks away and around the corner, nothing to worry about. For it's location and cleanliness, it is a very good pick. Oh, and the rooms are air conditioned, which all German hotel are not!

Room Tip: Depending on the rate you book, breakfast is either included or not included.

Brand new hotel, spatious room, breakfast a bit noisy....The location is in the old town of Nuremberg, in a calm side road, but in a quarter which seems to belong to the "red light district" of Nuremberg....OK, durig the day you dont feel this ...

This Hotel is located within the walls of the old town, but it is a bit of a distance from the main train station (2 stops with U-Bahn). It is also in the red light district (I wonder why no one mentioned this in the reviews?). Check in and check out were quick, with no hassles. The building itself is reasonably new and our room and bathroom were clean and spacious. There was a kettle in the room, minibar, flat screen TV and A/C. Free WiFi in the room. Breakfast was not included in the room price and it was a rip off at 15EUROS per person.

Well placed and very clean hotel/rooms. Breakfast is included and wife is free too. 88 euros for good reason. Easy to find too.

Lets see how its gonna at night. Very close to center and train station. If you wanna go to Nurnberg Airport just walk out and head to subway ( may be 200m) and take U2 to airport. Personel talks good english ( better then mine) and they do have a smile on them.

Room Tip: You may get higher rooms to be away from street but rooms dont take much noise in any ways.

I used reward points for this stay and my room was upgraded at arrival. The hotel is about a mile from the train station and an easy walk to the downtown area. I would have walked from the train station but it was raining. Cab ride was about 6.50 Euros. The room had a small attached kitchen with a hot water kettle, small fridge (with complimentary bottled water and sparkling apple juice) and microwave. There were a few pots and pans and utensils. Free coffee in lobby, but breakfast was 15 Euros per person.
Other pros: Small Balcony overlooking quiet courtyard, chocolates on the pillows, large closet, multipurpose desk/table, tv had 5 channels in English (Disney, Al Jazera English, CNN, CNBC Europe, Bloomberg Europe), amenities in bathroom (shampoo, bath gel, body lotion, soap, nail file, bathcap), provided razor and toothpaste when asked, antifog area on mirror, luggage can be held at reception desk, nice staff at reception.
Cons: no pen/paper in room, shower only has a half closure-so water may get on floor, thin shade in kitchen area let a lot of light into the room (bring an eye mask), the peep hole in the door was too high for me to see through.

The bartenders were awesome to be around. I spent quite a bit of time on the street and in the bar itself and the two blond bartenters were always professional and a pleasure to talk to. I highly recommend this place because of people like this. They really make the difference!

The Holiday Inn Nuernberg City Centre is a nice well maintained new hotel. Staff is friendly and competent. I had room 205.

Here is what I liked
- Outside bar area - nice to have a beer before you go to bed
- Large rooms with an additional seating space with a large sofa
- Free Internet (though the speed is not good)
- Very good, new beds
- Air conditioning (which is not standard in Germany)
- Walking distance to old town pedestrian area
- Fridge in the room

Here is what I did not like
- Expensive breakfast (15 EUR / per person)
- Loud air conditioner making strange sounds even when turned off
- Shower is not really convenient with a very cheap shower head

I can overall recommend the hotel but wouldn't chose the breakfast option. There is a bakery "The Beck" about 5 minutes walking from the hotel which is open every day including Sunday. You can get for 15 EUR a breakfast there for 3 persons instead of 1.
