For something a little different this museum is great for all ages. German toys are unique especially the timber made toys. Enjoy this experience as we did.

There were 3 floors of toys. One was for trains and was exciting and complete with toys made in Germany and the USA and other countries. The second floor had dolls, which was really overwhelming and not much of an interest to me but would be very good for people who love dolls.
The other floor had all kinds of toys that one can manipulate. It was very interesting. They also had a space where children could play with toys separate from the exhibits.
The only thing I would recommend would be having more expalinations in English.

When I first saw Toy Museum as a recommended place, I thought it was mainly for kids. However, the museum got me completely spellbound. The was it is organised - you can rent a small audio player for just one Euro from the reception - and listen to context specific comments - also in English - made the trip extremely interesting.

Various sections document how the toy industry evolved over more than a century in Germany, the dedication, passion and the thoroughness of the pioneers is truly amazing. Don't miss the section called - Ohama in Nebraska, learn about the 24 year of dedicated efforts to miniaturise Nebraska Railyard by someone who never visited US even once. Salute!!!

Absolute must for anyone who wants to understand the German Passion and why they are the Engineering Capital of the World.

This is a little gem. Its only over 3 floors but there are a lot of toys, history and information in this space. As well as a fantastic area on the top floor for children to play. There are all manner of toys, puppets, books etc for kids to play as they please. There is a also a working model train on the 2nd floor i think which operates on certain weekends of the month from memory. This museum is brilliant to entertain both young and old kids!

There is a fantastic selection of toys spanning the years. The dolls’ houses are amazingly intricate. Great for kids, but also interesting for adults to see toys you grew up with. Included on the city museum ticket.
