Nice market with stalls selling unusual items such as ridiculously long brooms or every imaginable variety of hair clip. Nuremburg's Alstatd contains sites such as: Executioner's house, river area, central bridge, old walls, old church and hospital etc... We took a fantastic tour through the old city with a knowledgable guide, which we took for about 20 euro's at the ticket office. The woman who took us was quite knowledgeable, probably having graduated in history and with her guidance we got the most out of the old town. Would recommend a stop over for lunch at one of the weisswurst stands at the market.

The Altstadt (Old Town) in Nürnberg is worth visiting. Due to the location of the Main Railway Station (Hauptbahnhof) right at the beginning of the old town you can visit the city center also when you stop by en route a rail tour. But I would recommend to stay at least a night in Nürnberg so that you have a bit more time to explore. There are so many sights to see that you can stay a few days here.

Its beautiful to wander along the walled towers, through the cobbled streets, visiting the many churches, the great pubs and restaurants or the market square. The area is very big and its nice that you also can shop in between or just relax in a nice cafe and enjoy the people passing by.

Would definitely get a hotel in Altstadt, great walking areas full of shopping and attractions. Loved the sausage vendors in the street!

You could spend several days just walking around the inside of the walled city and still not see/hear of everything. We were fortunate to be there when hey were celebrating their Altstadt Fest. Plenty of vendors in the Hauptmarkt, sidewalk cafes for lunch/dinner, and endless explorations up and down the many side streets. The history of the churches, their destruction during WWII, the preservation of their treasures during the war and their ultimate rebuilding will amaze you.
