We were looking for a hotel inside the 'Alt Stadt' in Nurnberg and this hotel fit the bill. Not only was it located near everything we wanted to explore, it was also far enough away from the crowds and noise. An easy walk to the Haupt Markt, the Fauenkirche and restaurants/cafes. An arrangement with a local parking garage about 300 meters down the street provided us easy access to our car when we wanted to explore other venues out of the city.
The hotel staff were very friendly and eager to assist us with dining or shopping plans. The hotel only offers a breakfast and that was top notch! We had chosen one of their apartments and it was very comfortable. Being able to keep the windows open at night provided a very comfortable sleeping environment. On hotter nights I'm sure it would have been quite warm on the top floors, but there were fans available. The hotel room we had was very clean and very comfortable. Definitely a place we would go back to.

Room Tip: Apartments are quite spacious, albeit on two levels. There is a small elevator to help get your luggage to your room. The reception desk is one flight up from ground level.

In December 2010 (not Dec 2011) we spent 7 nights/8 days in this lovely Baroque period hotel situated in the Nurnberg Altstadt. Our room was just across the little fitness room/ sauna, which I frequented every morning and evening during our stay there. The room was quiet, comfortable, and clean. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a lot of variety and no shortage of food, i.e. everything was regularly refilled.
The location is perfect, as it is in walking distance of the Hauptmarkt and Christkindlmarkt, the Kaiserburg, Gothic churches, museums, shopping areas, and other attractions. The U-Bahn (city train) to the airport is nearby, and the Hauptbahnhof including the stadtbahn or trams are about a 15 minute walk away to access more distant attractions outside the old town.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this charming and quaint hotel with their always friendly and accommodating staff. We would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone, and for our next stay in the future, will definitely choose 'Am Josephsplatz' again.

We recently returned from a one week stay at this hotel for my spouse to attend a conference. The hotel is in a central location in the Altstadt, close to a UBahn stop and shopping. There is a courtyard on the ground floor and a small elevator. The lobby is one flight up. Check in was easy. We had a three room apartment in the back of the hotel. The apt had a bedroom with two twin beds, a large living room with TV and antique furniture, a smaller room with a pull out sofa bed, desk, small fridge and modern bathroom. All rooms were spotlessly clean. It would have been helpful if the apt had a kitchenette, but we made do with the fridge. Each morning, a large, free buffet breakfast is available in two rooms off the lobby. A great deal! It included scrambled eggs, the usual meats and cheeses, smoked salmon, bread and rolls, cereal, fruit, yogurt, etc. Internet is also free, but it was slow. There is no AC, but the rooms have fans. At the end of June, it was not really that hot. Staff in the lobby and the breakfast room were consistently helpful and courteous. There is also a sauna, small gym and lovely patio on the top floor where you can sit and relax. The only funny thing is that there is a bar located below the apartment where we stayed in the back and for some weird reason, the bar was quiet at night, but suddenly quite popular around 6:00 a.m., with a few people talking loudly and laughing outside, smoking in the street, etc. Then it would get quiet again around 8:30 a.m. Maybe shift workers hanging out after the night shift? Never did figure it
out. But that was a small thing and our stay here was quite enjoyable.

A "romantic" hotel in the old town. Perfect location but far from perfect otherwise.
We had to carry all luggage ourself to the top floor(4th) and the room was extremely hot. Despite a couple of small fans it was very hard to sleep down duvets seems a bit over the top when it's 28 degrees outside.
Very hard and uncomfortable beds.

We stayed here on the recommendation of a friend and she was right, it was a perfect place - quiet, but very near Nuremburg's main square, castle, churches and shopping streets. The hotel was charmingly decorated with oriental rugs and our large room featured chintz curtains plus a 4-poster bed that was very comfortable. Breakfast was a full buffet served in 2 rooms. They offer free internet, secure luggage storage and a comfortable waiting room. Best of all is the staff - friendly, efficient and available 24-hours a day.

The only thing that needed improvement was the hair dryer, an old-fashioned wall unit that had little power and got very hot to handle.
