“You`ll never better the breakfast.”
Reviewed September 1, 2009

The hotel looks rather like just another concrete and glass monstrosity from outside. However, you must not let that put you off. Inside, the hotel is understated luxury, class and style. The willing assistance and warmth given by the reception staff and even the porters, was of a level that most British hotels would struggle to match.

Now for the breakfasts. As a devout glutton, I thought I had died and gone to Nirvana on the first morning. It is a help yourself buffet. I have never seen such a variety or quantity of food in my life. About 10 different types of bread, a similar number of cooked meats, the full fry-up, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, cheeses, I honestly think that the only thing missing was curried prawns. If this wasn`t enough, there were bottles of opened champagne in ice buckets, at which you could help yourself. Being religiously greedy, I went back for a full plate of seconds, not forgetting my fill of giggle water. Well worth every Euro.

To be honest, the hotel was probably the best thing about our stay in Nuremberg! Although we were quite disappointed with almost everything else in Nuremberg (restaurant service, public transport, etc), we were extremely happy with this hotel.

We accepted the offer of an upgraded room for an additional 10 euro per night, and it was well worth it for the views over the old city. The bed was very comfortable (and nice firm pillows).

The hotel is located very close to the train station (at most it's 200m), which is very convenient.

Safe short walk from hbf. Close to the old town. Nice old guy at the door gave us help for the direction to old town. Has A/C in the room which is a big plus for travelling in summer time. Safe area.

Great location, right accross the street from "old town" and next to train station. ALL of the staff was great, particularly Matthias at front desk.
Breakfast was one of the best buffets we have had anywhere from food to ambiance to good china. mNot your normal set up, even for a good hotel breakfast.
Rooms were very comfortable and clean.
Business center use, with good printer, was free for 30 minutes only, but tthat was enough to print out a 40 page document I needed.
High speed WiFi worked well but was at 8 Euro a day. Not too expensive, but a bit annoying to not have it available with the room.

We stayed here four nights. Everything was OK. The hotel is very close to Railway Station and the Old City, the room and the bathroom were big, breakfast was excellent. A very good choice.

Maritim Hotel, Nurnberg, lived up to our expectations--and more! I booked this hotel because it was within walking distance of the Chriskindlesmartk in the Old City as well as the Hauptbonhof (main train station). It also has a four star rating, which was my initial criteria. From our first encounter with the front desk to our reluctant good-bye, we were entranced! Friendly staff who spoke English (although my husband is fluent in German) superb buffet breakfast, large rooms with comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms all worked together to make us feel welcomed. Unlike hotels in the US, you do pay to park your car, so be prepared for that (not cheap!). We could easily walk to the center of the Old City and the Chriskindlesmartk, which was our reason for being in Nurnberg during Christmas. We would stay here again!

  • Liked — The hotel's elegance goes beyond the surface. It's found in the rooms and in the level of service.
