There some better, more authentic places to experience the local kitchen, but what makes this restaurant special are the views over the Old Town you get from there.

It offers reasonably priced franconian kitchen and my favorite local beer on tap - Zindorfer.

In summer it has comfortable summer garden.

The restaurant is located next to the castle, the food was really nice- the soups were amazing- the waitress even she did not speak much English, she was very friendly and the decoration was ok.

I have been going there regularly for many years when I visit Nuremberg on business.
The other reviewers seem to have missed out on the speciality of this restaurant - steaks served on special hot stone slabs. This is a special kind of stone that retains heat for a long time and the steaks (served by weight according to your preference) are served on this red hot stone whilst they are only slightly done. You then slice the meat and cook it to your taste in a matter of seconds on the stone. I have never seen this before in other restaurants. It costs a bit more than the other items on the menu but is well worth it.
Just be careful and don't burn your fingers.
Other options are also very tasty if you are not a steak fan.
The service is always very friendly and menus are also in English.
Great place to go out for an evening with business partners or just friends.
They have a website at www.restaurant-burgwaechter.de with built-in Google translation into any language you want, and even a video clip showing the restaurant.

We found this hillside Gastatte on the way up to the castle and returned for dinner after our climb was complete. There was a slight chill in the late afternoon air so we opted to pass through the biergarten and eat inside. Despite the chill, the outdoor seating was filled to capacity while the indoor restaurant was completely empty. The rustic decor was charming and we felt comfortable seating ourselves and browsing the odds and ends mounted on the walls. The waitresses quickly determined we spoke English and brought us bilingual menus and a basket of pretzels. As with every restraunt we've eaten at in Nuremberg, their little bratwursts are prominently advertised. We all ordered our favorite little sausages with various sides and soups. If you are looking for a cozy spot to relax after being on your feet for a while, this could be a good stop for you. The food was not bad and the service was excellent. It's likely this is a restaurant frequented more by tourists than by locals.
