“Mouth watering!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2013

While visiting Nuremberg in Dec. 2012 on a cold wintry night we enjoyed delicious brats, sauerkraut and warm hospitality at the "Golden Star". A great dining experience.

“Great, if you like bratwurst”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2013

This is a great place to meet up with friends for dinner - if your like bratwurst. From the moment you walk in, you're taken back in time! Rustic wooden plank floors, old wooden tables and chairs but they are sturdy and well maintained. The décor is also of the period. Their menu is almost totally bratwurst, but we gave up eating bratwurst long ago, and chose to have a feld salad (spinach), and potato salad (small dish) Also had their potato soup - very good, but they have a few selections of soup (real small portions in a cup-like bowl that they only fill half way), and their bread rolls are great. We ate upstairs and sat at a table where we could peer down to the lower level. Their apple strudel is also good - small portions, bathed in the traditional "vanille crème". There is a large new multilevel parking garage (Jakob Parkhaus) right next to the restaurant, so parking is convenient - rate 1.80euro per hour, max. 16euro per day. However, if you really want to be a spendthrift, and are desperate for bratwurst, there's a gal who operates out of a trailer that looks like a Coca Cola can, located in a cross street in the pedestrian shopping area, and she sells boatloads of bratwurst to pedestrians - 3 nuremberger brats in a roll, free condiments of your choice. Demand is high, and sometimes there's a line but it moves very quickly - her stuff is authentic and dirt cheap (1.50euro), if you're pressed for time.

“Very pleasant atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013

After visiting a museum, we needed some small snack to keep the hunger away and decided to check this place. It was Sunday afternoon and the place was practically empty: only three diners were in. What strikes immediately, is the smoky aroma lingering around, rising from the open fire on which the food is being prepared. The interior was nice and old looking, probably because they claim the history of the restaurant to date back to 15th century. The speciality is, of course, sausages, prepared in different manners and with different side dishes. The food arrived very quickly and the smoky taste is absolutely delicious. From the two dishes we tested (Nürnberg Bratwürste and Stadtwurst), the uninamous vote goes for the Stadtwurst. If you're planning to go there in a peak hour, make a reservation.

“You know that you are in Germany”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2013

The hotel is conveniently located off the pedestrian mall and the Holiday Inn Hotel. Even from the outside you will think that you have stepped into a old friend's house. The inside is full of Bavarian charm. The tables upstairs look down into the restaurant. The menu centers on the Nuremberg specialty of their finger size sausages, but there are other foods to choose. We had a variety and we were all happy with the choices. The food was tasty and a warm atmosphere with fair prices.
