“Perfect location”
Reviewed August 6, 2012

This is just down the railway station or bahnhof as the Germans say! Location is fantastic, but the exterior was a bit of a let down. Even the room did not have a great view! However, the interior is quality and the service quality is good.

Elegant in every way-food,service,linens,tabelware.I have not experienced the whole package in the US.We have good food but the rest doesen't exist here.Definetly old school but I would not consider this negative.Very beautiful when it snows in Munich!Expensive but worth the cost.

“Old-fashioned-formal, in terms of clientele, decor, and service”
Reviewed January 26, 2012

If I had to describe this place in one word, it would be stuffy. We came for dinner on Saturday night, and I have never been surrounded by such an old crowd! We were probably the only people under the age of 30, and there was only one other couple under the age of 40. Everyone else was 45+. Also, be sure to dress more formally. Almost all of the men had jacket and tie. This seems to be the case in Europe - Michelin stars call for formal attire..not so much in New York..

The décor and the service are both old-fashioned. The wine list was extensive, and the food was good, though not spectacular.

We had the degustation menu, with the main course switched out. After trying blood pudding/sausage in Vienna, that was not something I cared to experience again. We opted for the turbot instead, which was a bit overcooked. The accompanying bone marrow was very disappointing, and it was more of a marrow gelatin than actual marrow. The starting dish of prawns and langoustine was quite good, and the salmon was decent. After finishing the main, the citrus fruits dessert took forever to come out - over half an hour. Seriously, they better have been making the sorbet from scratch or something. I liked the platter of petit fours to choose from.

Tip: point to which bread you want instead of asking by name..the "rye" was definitely not a rye and the "sourdough" was a plain roll.
