“Great beer, service tricky, food - from good to average”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

Yes, the place is feeding on location for sure. Still, it is full of locals doing Christmas shopping in the evening, so it could be a bit tricky to get a table...

Franziskaner weissbier is excellent, right temperature, and brought to table quickly. Pretzels are hot, crunchy on the outside and with nice chew in the middle.

Main courses - depends on what you pick. Duck is great, weisswurst is delicious, leberkese is great. They cook in bulk, with huge traffic going through the restaurant...if its a dish that's made for it - will be top. If its something more delicate - perhaps not here.

Waiters do have an attitude, so dont expect Italian charms or polished Michelin style...Yet they are quick and efficient, just dont expect much interaction =)

Overall - I'd say its a good place to be with a bunch of friends drinking weissbier and eating sausages..its not a fine-dining establishment for a romantic dinner

“Lovely place and nice food”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

The inside is nice, even if you do not realise it from the street., when you look inside. Once you enter you are guided to your table passing some rooms, and you discover that this place, as some other restaurants in Munich, is very big. We were in a room which is probably the patio in spring and summer, in winter it was covered and closed and, of course, heated. Nice food, well prepared and a good beer, reasonable prices, attentive and quick service despite the dimension of the place. we shall be back. If you can, keep some room for the desserts, they are interesting.

“A great find - highly recommended for a traditional German dining”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

Spent a really superb night here last week introducing a mate to traditional German cuisine - terrific, friendly service and a great atmosphere - heavily populated by locals as well as a good sprinkling of international guests giving a cosmopolitan atmosphere.

“Great food, good service!”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

We went their twice while in Munich; once for lunch and once for dinner. Our food was great; (loved the rinderroulade) and service was also good. We also enjoyed the atmosphere. Speaking Bavarian might have helped our dining experience.

“Be careful you don't get tricked”
Reviewed December 9, 2012 via mobile

Went with family including kids 7 and 8. Ordered meals for my wife and I and kids meals for kids - c €4 each. Waiter came back and said kitchen was out and suggested schnitzel ( a typical item on kids menus). Had our meal, all was fine and then the bill came. Without discussion the waiter had "upgrade" the meals to 2 small adult portions at €18 EACH! Not the large version for €23 to split! Not a kids version. So without informing us of the price difference he suggested we change from €8 to €36!

When asked about it and discussed with the manager- we were told there was nothing they could do about it.

This was not a language issue - we live in Munich.

Be careful you also don't get tricked!!!
