Description: The restaurant is located in the very heart of Germany´s secret capital - the Marienplatz of Munich. There is no way you will get more down-town, since the Ratskeller is located in the cellar of the new town hall - built in the late 19th century... There are few places where you get to see more history while enjoying some of Munich´s best traditional dishes... We certainly do offer vegan and vegetarian meals, too. Approx. 20% of our menu consists of meat-free food. We really hope to see you here soon!

Okay, it was 1:00 when we decided to have lunch, but we did get in without a wait. The place is actually huge! Very ice meal at a normal, European leisure pace. Great selection of food, and for the non-German speakers, English is no problem. Credit cards accepted

Stopped in for some potato soup and apfelschorle. The soup and bread was delicious. The apfelschorle was so cold and refreshing. For those who don't know it's apple juice and sparkling water. If you don't drink beer this is the drink to have.

Service was great, waitress friendly and spoke English. They have an menu in English with pictures if you can't decipher the German. I would definitely eat here again.

Earlier this month our group of 8 visiting Munich and surrounding areas stopped at the Rathskeller late in the evening for a glass of wine and to enjoy the ambiance. The waiter showed us into a room appropriate for a small group that was beautifully appointed, warm and welcoming. It was perfect! Our waiter never hurried us, recommended a wonderful local wine, brought bread and olives to the table. Our group ranged in age from 25 to 65 and every one of us thoroughly enjoyed our evening at The Rathskeller.

I highly recommend stopping here, enjoy the beautiful restaurant and wonderful service.

My wife and I had been at Oktoberfest. We wanted a nice sit down, but traditional meal. Stopped here and tried to find a spot to eat - all reserved. Sat down any way. The right move. We looks like serious diners and money so the waiter made the adjustment. Food was very good, as was the service. Great ambience.

This restaurant sits on the main square in the centre of Munich and I would expect to pay a premium for that. However, the following night I went to a similar restaurant (schnitzelwirt - also reviewed) just 200m away and had a similar meal for just half the price.

It was Friday night and obviously quite busy, but even so the service was quite slow. The waitress (although she spoke excellent English) was quite curt with us every time she came to the table. At the end of the meal she tried to overcharge us for two drinks and a main dish that we had not ordered.

Not great; I wont be going to Rarskeller again...
