“Great hospitality..wonderful staff and setting”
Reviewed July 25, 2012

Tremendous value, and the place where locals go-which speaks volumes. Brilliant..especially good food. I prefer apple red cabbage, which is a real treat in Bavaria, as unfortunately that which I was given was more of the pickled/vinegar variety. Nevertheless, would not hesitate to return many times.

“Nice Place, Good Food”
Reviewed July 11, 2012

First of all keep in mind there are kind of two restaurants.

Outside you have the beer garden which has typical beer garden quality food, and a nice place to sit outside. There is a good atmosphere here. On the hot days it really can fill up with people.

Inside it is more upscale the prices may be higher (I am not positive). it is good food and a nice place to enjoy Bavarian food in a typical Bavarian setting. The food is a much higher quality than what you eat at the Hofbräuhaus.

Overall it is a good place and certainly good for a night out.

“Nice place to have dinner in a beer garden”
Reviewed May 6, 2012

We had dinner on one of the first really warm evenings of this season in Munich so the place was packed , but it's not a problem as the beer garden is really immense .
You can either sit on the simple wooden benches (same style as in the Oktoberfest) and get your food from the self service reastaurant , or sit in the "better" tables with service and "a la carte" menu wich is only slightly more expensive but with a wider selection of complete dishes .
Food and service as you would normally expect in a bavarian beer garden , the ambiance was good and very social .
It's a much better alternative compared to the Hobrauhaus in the center without any doubt , most of the people were locals , we felt as we were the only foreign tourists .
We staid at the Hilton Munich City , it's only a short walk away (less than 10 minutes) ,

“Great place for rainy sundays with children”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

Here is a very good option for a rainy sunday with small children in Munich. You want to go out for lunch and maybe a little coffee afterwards? Try the Hofbraukeller – one of the well-kown Bavarian restaurants in the city. The Bavarian food is okay, the Bavarian beer and prices are decent and moderate, too, but the best is a next room close to the main hall with a perfect playground, where your children can play for hours – with 2 young and charming babysitters, so that the parents can relax at their table without paying too much attention every second...

“A fine old restaurant and beer garden”
Reviewed April 1, 2012

This is a classic place in Munich, at Max-Weber-Platz, and is especially nice on a warm afternoon. The beer garden is expansive, with food service, and the restaurant is comfortable.

Food is what you would expect, but very good.

MUCH more enjoyable than the more famous tourist destination in the Zentrum.

A visit here can easily be combined with a short walk to Unionsbraeu just down the street and around the corner.
