The best tours are the ones that you are still thinking about weeks afterward. That is the case with Alun's guided tour of Dachau Concentration Camp. I was there almost a month ago and have felt compelled since then to study and learn more about the Holocaust. Alun clearly feels that same compulsion because he continues to read and visit other sites to educate himself - which I'm sure makes each of his tours better than the previous one. When I return to Munich next year, I will take Alun's tour again. Such a valuable experience for me!

Alun is a wonderful independent tour guide. His groups are smaller than other tour operators. We missed the start of the tour even though he waited for us to arrive at the meet-up point. Alun guided us by phone and text so that we were able to quickly join the group at Dachau. I cannot imagine the larger tour operators being so helpful and accommodating. He is very knowledgable and passionate about sharing that knowledge so that the dark history of Dachau is not forgotten. I give Alun my highest recommendation.

I have to say though I can not guarantee people that I would be able to show such individual attention on a regular basis as it does very much depend on the group dynamics on the day. I would encourage guests to definitely be on time as per the tour voucher. I also have to consider that people on the tours are on schedules and late arrivals can throw things out for their fellow guests. I do however appreciate these things can happen and help where I can. Alun was an extremely experienced and knowledgeable guide. Originally from London but here in Munich for over 15 years. We used public transportation to and from Dachau which worked quite well. Alun set the tone for the trip and had so much more information than what I expected. Would do another tour with Alun if given the opportunity. Excellent.

Alun offers a breadth of knowledge to give you a wonderful experience on those tour. He is nice and funny from the get go and always ready to answer questions. He gives the subject the respect it deserves. I also took the Third Reich tour and it was just as informational as this one.

yes, as a guide you have to get the timing right on this tour with regards to demeanour. Obviously on the way out to Dachau, you are very much setting the scene for what is a sombre and sad experience. As a guide you want to project the appropriate manner for what will be experienced. To balance this however it is important to also when appropriate to inject a lighter side which tends to be on the return journey. Take care!

Alun is a WONDERFUL guide. Our group was small and intimate, and he has such a depth of knowledge and passion for educating people about Dachau. He guided us on and off the public transport without a hitch, gave us time to look at the museum with his advice on timings, and took us round Dachau in a way that meant we got to experience the minimum amount of crowds and the maximum time seeing the buildings and talking about the camp history. I cannot recommend Alun highly enough - you simply must take this tour.
