“Fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

We rang up at 7pm for a table that night and they couldn't be more accommodating. Very friendly when we arrived, they had a lovely table reserved for us and it was the only empty table in the restaurant. the place was buzzing, lots of young couples, families and groups of friends. The food we ordered was amazing, my friend ordered one of the recommended starters and I had serious food envy. All the food was lovely and the bottle of chablis was perfect to compliment our food. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it.

“not as great as expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2012

it's a nice place, but not as fabulous as initially expected.

if u're a regular guest, they treat u really well. but don't expect that to be the case, if this is your first visit.

i found the seating to be very uncomfortable and if u're tall, the tables are definitely too low.

food quality is ok, but stays below expectations given the pricing strategy.

“Again, an excellent choice for dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2011

Our dinner with friends was excellent. Good and interesting menu, nice and flexible service, lively and relaxed atmosphere. Even with a big private group being present at the same time, we got all attention required. Private parking lot.
We'll visit this place again when back to Munich.

“One of Munich's top restaurants”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2011

We go to Makassar two to four times a year and it has never disappointed. We've been there for romantic dinners, we've taken business clients and we've even been there twice with a baby (before she started crawling or walking and just slept in her stroller) and the staff was always so friendly and quick with a joke. I wouldn't recommend bringing a crawling baby or a toddler since it's a rather small restaurant. That would be stressful for the other patrons and for the parents.

The food and wine menu changes with every visit but everything we've tried has always left us wanting more. Every wine has left me searching for the same bottle on the internet or at a wine handler's afterwards.

And most importantly, it's intimate and it's personal - they seem to remember us every time we come...and if not, then they do a very good job of pretending to....which is fine with me. We appreciate the effort.

“Don't miss this oportunitiy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2010

I was in Munich on a business trip. A friend told me about the Makassar, so we went. The food was excellent, the drinks strong and made me feel I was on a remote island. The service was outstanding, friendly and always good for a little bit of humor. When you go try the fish balls or scallops as appetizers. Steak or lamp as main, and don't forget the dessert. Reservations required!
