“Worth it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2009

We all were waiting for the worst, because of the cheap prize for the night, 49 euros per room. But our two rooms were very clean and decoration was actually quite nice, modern. Double-bed room was pretty small but the room with two separated beds was big and comfortable. And the breakfeast is including the prize! There was Rewe nearby hotel where we picked up food. The metro was like 100 metres from the hotel and it went straight to the hauptbahnhof and from there to any places. And metros don't move only from 2:00am to 4:00 am! So you can easily go where ever you want. Staff spoke English also. Very good for young people who wants to party! and we think it would be good for the familys with children also.

The building looks ugly from the outside, but the rooms are small, basic, functional, and good value. The free reliable wireless internet connection and the free breakfasts were good points.

The hotel's location is a bit far from the city centre but it's only about a 15 minute train ride from the Laim S-Bahn station - right across the road. Trains from here also go to Dachau.

The hotel is very close to Schloss Nymphenburg (palace), and within walking distance to the famous Hirschgarten beer garden, which isn't much good if you go in Winter but you could stumble home after a few steins pretty easily in the summer! :)

  • Liked — Value for money, free internet
  • Disliked — Bit soulless, bit far from the city centre

We came to Munich for a long weekend and to see the Xmas Markets. This hotel has some good and bad points. The hotel is family run and they were very helpful. I did a lot of searching and it's quite cheap for Munich. That being said, the rooms are nothing amazing, but they're clean and functional. I had no concerns with the bathroom (see previous post) - it was pretty standard for this sort of hotel.

The breakfast was a typical european cold buffet. In terms of location, it's accross the road from a main line train station, so you don't have to wait too long for a train into town. It's also on the line coming from the airport, so it's easy to get too (Note: if you arrive after 10pm they leave the key in the casino next door and a note on the door, it was no problem).

It's not really in a nice area (on a hwy and trainline). Apparently there are shops and restaurants nearby, but we didn't see anything (apart from a strange faux Swiss Chalet next door), and it's not really the type of area you'd want to go exploring as a tourist. So, if you want to be 'in town' don't stay here, but as I said, it's on a busy train line so you can get into town in about 10 mins very easily. P.S. if you're planning on going to the Xmas markets, they close at 8.30pm sharp, which is a little disapointing considering the markets were full and everyone was having a good time.

First of all - this is really a bargain for Munich - it costs only about 50 € and is just beside a S-Bahn-Station very good. The rooms are very (very!!!) small, but clean and have free WLAN and a small Flat-TV. the only thing I really did not like was the bathroom. Mine just looked very sticky and broken. If you do not have any expectations and want to stay cheap in Munich - take it. But if your company pays or you want to impress you gf : Stay Away !

The room we got in the Tessin hotel looked much more like and old guest room in the house of an older aunt than a hotel room itself. Decoration was awfull and the room looked very old. Nevertheless, everythin a simple hotel room needs was available: small but functional bathroom with a shower, cable TV, heater, etc.
Staff was very friendly and the location is absolutely excelent: 100m from a major S-Bahn station (public transport) that has trains going to a 10min ride to downtown every 2 or 3 minutes. Even if one doesn't want to take a ride downtown, several places to eat are in a walking distance from the hotel. Connection to the airport is easy. We did not take breakfast in the hotel (although the price of EUR 5 per person was not high), so we can not evaluate it.
An overall good relation price/benefit.

After 3 months of traveling Europe, we found Hotel Tessin a wonderful introduction to Germany. It is by far the best 3 star Hotel we have stayed in due to:
a) the wonderful Staff
b) the great location - so close to public transport.

The breakfasts we plentiful and the rooms were simple, but all you needed to sleep and shower.

Both the train and the tram stops (although in different directions) are a 3 minute walk at the most from the front door. Also, lots of shops nearby - again, about 5 minutes max.

We were well looked after at the Hotel Tessin, and the room rates were very reasonable.

If you're wanting to stay somewhere close to everything and where the service is great - stay here....!!!
