Courtyard by Marriott Munich City Center

Beware travelers, there are not one but TWO Courtyard Marriotts in Munich! On the day we first arrived in Munich my friends and I took the train from the airport allll the way to the other Courtyard Marriott, walked four blocks with our luggage only to have to turn back and walk another six blocks to this Courtyard. The beds were comfortable as most Marriots are. Our room price was reasonable. We had to take one or two train stops to city center so the hotel isn't very close to all the action. Next time I think I will pick a more central location. The area around this hotel is pretty seedy so if you're female, make sure you stay with your group.

Very nice property in excellent location nearby central station and walking distance to Marienplatz and main shopping areas. Clean and good restaurant area for breakfast or dinner. Inside rooms do not have any street noise and all rooms are newer with clean carpets, fresh paint and bathroom facilities.

Room Tip: Request off stree room since you can hear noise if you are located above front entrance of hotel on...

I stayed with my parents in this hotel for 3 nights in June,2011. The hotel is centrally located; 5-10 min walk from Munich Hbf (the main train station in Munich) and 10-15 min walk from the old town. Note that there are a few adult clubs in this area; however I did not feel unsafe at any time during my stay. The building looks new and impressive from outside; the interior is very nicely decorated. The room size is really good for European standards, they have rooms with king size beds and two double beds (Note: It's actually double beds and not the typical single beds that you find in most hotels in Europe). The hotel staff is very helpful and attentive. As I have Platinum status with Marriott, I was immediately upgraded to a deluxe room with a nice bathroom and a free mini bar. The morning breakfast buffet was extremely good with a nice selection of meat, breads and fruits. I would love to stay in this hotel again and would definitely recommend it to all my family and friends.

Even though this property is very central and close to the train station the rooms are very quiet. I'm a light sleeper and I could leave the window open and it was quiet. The doors are also quiet so you don't hear constant banging in the morning. When I'm jet lagged and need to sleep in this is a big deal.

The bathroom is very modern and the room was small (normal for europe) but comfortable with a fridge. There are many restaurants and shops nearby. 10 mins to the big shopping areas. There are a lot of red light girly places around which was a bit shocking but I think these places are in the heart of many big towns. It did not seem dangerous at all despite these sorts of places. I was traveling alone and did not feel worried.

Hotel restaurant is good. But the breakfast is very expensive. 28 euros for full breakfast! Wow, that's a lot. Outside shops selling coffee and egg sandwiches for 7 euros.

Take the lufthansa airbus to the hotel, 2 blocks away for 10.50 euros. The taxi is 65 euros. The bus is very comfortable and leaves every 20 mins.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is in the back away from the street.

The hotel is centrally located, just a 10 minute walk from the main train station Munich Hbf.

On arrival the hotel staff were welcoming and helpful. Our room was comfortable and spacious with excellent bathroom facilities, as with all Marriott hotels the bed was comfortable

The buffet breakfast was excellent with a huge selection of breads, fruit and hot food, we would highly recommend selecting a rate including breakfast

There were only a few minor negatives, the lack of english language channels , no free wifi and the restaurant prices seemed a little steep.

Stayed here for two nights at the end of business trip. About a 7 minute walk to train station, Grey line tours, airport shuttle etc. Lobby reception is very professional and helpful. They recommended a restaurant for dinner, which turned out be superb. Rooms were clean and well furnished. They charge for internet use, but computers in lobby were good. I did not try breakfast or restaurant as there were so many options on the same street. 'Would recommend for the convenience and price, though the neighborhood is not the best. Late at night or at 5:00 AM, felt comfortable walking to/from the station. One tip: For going to airport, walk over to train station and take Lufthansa shuttle (10 Euros) and it is most convenient. Airport is about 45 to 50 minutes via shuttle.

I stayed here for one night at the end of a business trip in Germany, flying out of Munich the following day. It's fairly decent by Courtyard standards, my only complaint would be the room carpets could use a steam cleaning. Room and bathroom were pretty good, mattress was the usual "Courtyard" substandard mattress, ie. hard like a futon. If Marriott would put the marriott bed into the Courtyard hotels, I'd stay at Courtyards all the time. But since the mattresses are hard I avoid them when I can.

Anyway, my room was on the 6th floor facing the street and it was quiet with the window closed. I am a light sleeper and it was definately ok.

The front desk staff were excellent, very friendly and efficient. Some of the best I've encountered all year.

Breakfast was pretty good for a courtyard, except there was no hot oatmeal. The restaurant was nice. It was crowded for dinner although I didn't eat dinner there.

As everyone else here says, there are "adult shops" nearby, it's not really a great neighborhood to take kids through. But for me as a solo business traveler, it was kind of amusing. 5 min to the train station, 10 min to the old town pedestrian street. Airport is 30 min by light rail / S bahn from the train station.

I'd stay there again if I was in Munich.

Room Tip: Higher floors will have less street noise, 6th floor was quiet with the window closed.
