A nice hotel located really close to the main train station of Munich.
Check in was efficient, the rooms are a bit small but have almost everything you need.
I would have liked to have an alarm clock though, to be able to see what time it is at a glance.

The room was spotlessly clean.
Good, roomy shower.
Pleasantly firm bed.
Great WiFi.
Small refrigerator with free (small) bottles of water, orange juice, cola and beer.

Very nice breakfast buffet.
While we were enjoying breakfast the owner stopped by, introduced himself and asked if everything was all right.
Very friendly.

The elevator was the only let down.
Very small (it could hold no more than four people at the same time - that is if they were thin).
And it was extremely slow.

The neigbourhood is not great if you want to go for a stroll, but just follow the Bayerische Strasse for about ten minutes and you arrive at the Old Town.

Would I stay there again?
If I would want to be close to the Haupbahnhof again I might, because apart from being 'nice' the hotel is also very reasonably priced for a hotel in Munich.

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights while on a business trip at Munich. Despite the rundown appearance of the street and shops nearby, Hotel Schiller 5 is actually an excellent hotel. The rooms are well furnished, the bed is comfortable, and the sheets and linens are clean. The staff is very friendly. The highlight of my stay there was the breakfast. Open buffet and lots of fresh choices, ranging from several breads, cheeses, fruits (citrus, tomatoes, cucumbers), hot dishes (eggs, sausages, pancakes, potato fritters), cereal and oatmeals...Very nicely done. The hotel has free parking, though you have to drive the car into an elevator, go down to the basement and back out into the garage space. It is a bit of a hassle, but manageable. You probably should get a small car if driving in and out of an elevator sounds treacherous to you. I should also add that the rooms are small compared to what you may expect from brand-name US hotels, but that is common all across Europe. The hotel does not have a gym.

Overall, I really enjoyed by stay here and would recommend it to anyone visiting Munich; business or pleasure!

Room Tip: Cleaning staff often open the windows after servicing a room. The rooms on the street side can fill...

The hotel is right outside the main train station in Munich, in a quiet street. There is one discreet sex shop on the way, nothing obvious or sleazy. We felt totally safe.

We booked a suite for our family of 4, and the room exceeded our expectations. Two separate rooms, two bathrooms, open-plan kitchen, separate entrance hall. Plenty wardrobe space, plenty of space to put suitcases.

Room Tip: We chose to give the bedroom to the kids and to sleep on the sofa bed in the lounge ourselves - that...

Friendly staff, nice rooms, great breakfast, excellent wifi, lots of english news cjhannels, all in all a very enjoyable visit.
Centrally located indeed with all the usual , close-to-main-railway-station facilities so one might be just a little cautious late at night.
Still I would happily return.

Room Tip: If you visit in Summer and wish to open windows ( there is good heating and air conditioning) you mi...

A converted office building the Schiller 5 from the outside looks like you may have made a bad choice, but think again fellow traveller. A great business hotel or brilliant for a short city break, its centrally located minutes walk from the main train station, restaurants, old Munich and new.

Reception area is nice, with a free ipad to use, 6 floors. My room, 605 had a really well thought out spread, the key card system worked well, you walked into a central area with its own kitchen, microwave and everything you'd need to zap a meal if you needed it or heat up milk etc, plus tea coffee making facilities. I really liked the small Mar bar on the bed and the rather large TV, that had a great selection of channels, mainly German of course, but BBC News, CNBC CNN etc. Tea and coffee was on offer all day in the relatively small restaurant. Breakfast was really very good, a buffet style of breads, cereals, cold meats and eggs (either scrambled or fried) with a choice of small hot wieners. They had rather nice honey comb on offer from Austria which was I though very tastey and it was as eat as much as you like. Nice staff, great service and the owner even came round at breakfast to ask if all was well, as he does apparently every morning.

Did not look that impressive from the outside, but once you got inside it told a different story. Very comfortable room (we booked a double and it was perfect for the two of us), free drinks in the mini-bar and a breakfast that had something for everyone. As for the "shady neighborhood and the comments about the strip clubs on the same street in my opinion are over exaggerated. There was a lot to see and do within walking distance or hop the train as the main station. My only off the wall comment and I guess this could apply to all of the UK, is that "ice" is not common. When I ask for ice at any place I get a strange looks. It must be an American thing..

I had little expectation from this hotel. But in the end, I was overwhelm by its great hospitality. Firstly, the location is next to the main train station and therefore the neighbourhood is a bit too shady for my liking. However, bright driveway to the main lobby, tucked away at the end of the driveway is a good break from the shady neighbourhood. The front desk was quick to check us in without fuss. The room was bright and though my room was facing the main road, the double glazing helped to mask out most of the noisy neighbourhood and their shady dealings. Breakfast was great with wide selection of food.

Room Tip: Please ask for a room that does not face the noisy main road.
