Basic rooms, basic shower, minimal furniture and fittings. That's because its a hostel, more importantly, clean, warm, secure, affordable and ideal place to stay whether you are young or old but don`t expect a suite at the Ritz.

Great communal areas, good staff with a lively bar (sorry about Mr Lurky, but you were great with him).

Would recommend staying here if hosteling is your thing, or even if it isn't.

Wi-Fi isn`t great, but there`s a big world to explore, see it for real rather than on a little screen.

I backpacked through Vienna and Budapest last summer, staying at Wombats hostels and was really impressed by them. Even though there were some hotels on booking websites at a similar price to a Double en-suite at the Wombats, I chose the Wombats based on my prior experience with the chain.

The common areas are lovely, the front desk staff very helpful, and like the other hostels, the breakfast was good value and delicious.

However we didn't think it was to the standard of the other Wombats we've stayed in. Even though we'd paid over the odds to have a room with an en-suite, we had absolutely no hot water for a shower - and it was a very cold and rainy day so not a good start to our day.

I found the corridors so be particularly noisy (building design flaw as the noise of doors closing really traveled, as did quiet talking)

Even though the hostel appears to have won some awards for being really clean, we had an awful smell coming from our en-suite at a couple of points and the bed sheets looked quite grotty too. I'm sure they were washed, but perhaps they're just in need of new ones?

There is everything you need for a good hostel. Clean, simple, comfortable, friendly, free wi-fi. Every morning there are free guided tours (english language). On the ground floor there is a bar where the parties are organized. But the noise is not audible in the room.

This is my first time stay in Hostel. I love the experience. Although it is a bit more expensive compare to other hostel, definitely worth the money. It is located near the Munich Central Station. The room is super clean and I love the fact that it is hardwood floor instead of carpet. The staffs are friendly. The common area is a comfortable place to chill. The hostel is pretty safe as they lock the door in the evening, you can't get it if you don't have room key. There is also a security door on each floor before entering to the hallway.

I guess the only downside is there is no internet access in the room, but they have their reason.

Wombats munich is fantastic. Probably the cleanest hostel I've ever been in. Great bar, great breakfast, the friendliest staff in a hostel I've ever encountered. AND you get a free beer on arrival. It's right next to the hauptbahnhof in a slightly seedy location but it wasn't too bad, 10 minute walk to the marienplatz, 5 min walk to the festival grounds (for Oktoberfest) and u bahn and s bahn stations very close. The hostel is very much a party hostel and can get loud on a Friday or Saturday night so if you don't like a little bit of noise, choose elsewhere.

The best youth hostel ever I visited!
This hostel is very fantastic, they lent us towels for free, using dryer is also available if you ask.
The location is gust a few minutes away from the station, although I arrived at midnight,I could smoothly go there.
We can get 1 drink coupon as we check-in and any drinks even a small glass of your choice!
What a fantastic service!
There's a comfortable balcony which is like a public space and we can relax on hammock with a glass of beer! The staffs are also nice people,In the reception you can find a paper explaining how to go to the Castle!

We were very surprised at this Hostel. We stayed in the private room on the top floor. This was well worth extra money. Your own bathroom with a shower and a balcony. The level of security is great. The staff a is very help and want to help you have the best time. We met some of the best people there. The bar down stairs is great, beer is a fare price. The bar staff is friendly. Great atmosphere!
I suggest doing the pub crawl. Max was our guide and he was awesome. They take you to a few places that you may not ever go into. If you are lucky you may even get a chance to try some strong beer - Very good.
Over all a great place to stay. Super close to the train station.
Love Munich!!

Room Tip: Private rooms are greats. Security is not a issue, Key cards are required everywhere.

'Of all the hostel-hotels popping up in Munich this pert little number does the best job in combining style with location. Past the glassed-in courtyard you'll find a friendly expat staff, pleasant if modular furnishings and private showers and toilets in every room.' (Lonely Planet)Welcome to our comfortable baby in Munich! We're just a stone's throw from the main train station which also serves as the major public transportation hub. It’s not much further to the old town (5 minute stroll or 2 stone throws) and we're within easy walking distance of the Oktoberfest grounds (if you still CAN walk…better don’t throw stones). We have amply dimensioned dormitories and most doubles come with their own terrace.
