These botanical gardens are right next to the Schloss Nymphenburg and close to Munich city center. They're a delight at any time of year. In the summer, the flowers are in full bloom and a riot of colour. In winter, the glass houses are an oasis of warmth. Don't miss the gigantic lily pads and the terrapins.

Simply beautiful and a great way to spend a few hours on the weekend in the summer. I have not been in the winter; I would imagine that the venu is modified to accommodate the weather conditions.

The garden is easy to get to, just take tram 17 from Central Station which will take about 15 or 20 mins. and stops right in front of the garden. We visited in early November and the cost was 4 Euros each and although nothing was blooming outside the landscaping was nice. This place must be absolutly incredible in the spring and summer. The greenhouse itself had several different rooms ranging from orchids to desert to jungle. We visited on a Thursday morning and there was only a handful of people there which made it romantic. Don't miss the room with the 30 or 40 turtles or the really big fish (in a different room than the turtles.) There was a cafe on site where we sat and enjoyed a cup of tea. There was a large outdoor seating area, weather permitting, which would be wonderful in the summer. We will have to go back in the summer, we highly recommend.

I have been there at night - at the Long Night of the Museums which is once a year. Its a unique experience. The whole Garden is illuminated. You even see plants that only bloom at night.
