This is a huge building, but much of it is a re-building of what was destroyed in WWII. The highlights for me (and you can get separate entrance tickets for these if your time is limited) were the Treasury and the Theatre.

This is a great place to visit if you're in Munich. The collection in the treasury is exquisite. Crowns, scepters, swords, dishes, clocks, alters, etc. The palace is really breaktaking. Many rooms were how I imagine Versailles. You're able to walk through so much of the palace, and at your own pace. There are chairs if you want to sit and enjoy a room. It was just amazing. So much art too. You could spend all day there.
You can't bring a stroller, big bags, etc. They have a free cloackroom. The bathroom was upa lot of stairs, small and a little gross.

Nice if you are into ancient bling but as for me, bring on the beer gardens. Good history lesson but not if you are thirsty

Impressive museum offering tour of their treasures (jewells and aritfacts) along with a separate tour of their residence quarters. We appreciated the self-guided audio parts which explained in better detail what you were looking at. Plan for at least 4 hours.

The Residenz tour was a good look into the way the Wittelsbach's of past centuries lived... the rooms all have unique points highlighted by an audio guide...
Take some time here and take in all the details....
The jewel and precious objects collection is NOT TO BE MISSED. Well worth a few hours' time in Munich.
