Across from Munich's main train station are all kinds of dubious businesses. Tucked in amongst them is Taklamakan, at first glance just another Doener Kebap place with simple table seating. And their doener kebaps are superb, they make their own meat, etc. But the special thing they have is authentic Uyghur cooking (from far west China, where the Uyghurs are a Turkic, nomadic folk.) Top of the list is their handmade noodles, just fantastic. It takes a bit of time to wait for the noodle dishes, but it is well worth the wait. The owner is very friendly and after a couple of repeat visits it's as if you are old friends. Delicious, simple, inexpensive and as far as I have found, unique in Munich. You'll note the many Chinese here, they clearly know a good thing. Lastly, they are open very late, and the all- night trams go right by the place.
