“Clean, bright and interesting hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2013

Sometimes you get a hotel that is clean, well equipped but standard and boring. Sometimes you get one that's a bit different but a bit rough around the edges. This hotel gives the best of both worlds.

The book theme with quotes all over the place and the exterior window covers looking like pages from a book all add up to something different. Yet the rooms are clean, bright and airy and all the equipment (especially in the bathroom) is very modern, efficient and works well.

The location is good, being just a few minutes from the main station. I will be looking to stay here again when I travel to Munich.

This was a very well appointed hotel...but unfortunately was near the railway station...which makes it undesirable..

Room was excellent....staff gracious...but would not walk around at night especially alone.
Late in the evening kids were running up/down hall...knocking on our door, then running away...

Location was fairly close to city center, but again no walking after dark. Parking was onsite for a fee...we took the train to Dachau Concentration camp

The hotel is conveniently situated near the Munich HBF. It also closes to where the oktoberfest is.

Room is small, simple and basic. Not particularly impressive or stylish but comfortable and clean enough. Beds were cozy. The staff was nice and willing to help.

I stayed there for one night and price was a bit high during my stay but maybe due to the festival season.

Recommended if price is lower back to usual price.

- very good location - near to the main station (5 min walk) & 15min walk to the city centre;
- the staff was generally friendly;
- 3 modern elevators;
- the room was very modern, quiet, clean, modern, spacious, with a comfortable & clean bed & pillows, with large windows, with good internet connection;

It is a really 4* hotel and we would stay here again! Congratulations!

For attending Oktoberfest, this hotel was ideal; 750 metres away from the festivities and 100 metres from the main train station.
The literary theme of the hotel matches the clean modern lines and well appointed rooms. Beds are comfortable and staff generally friendly and helpful.

Couple of unfortunate service issues:

Issue 1
Arriving after 2am, I wanted to confirm my bedding request and was told the system was locked so advise the staff later in the morning. With the system now open at 9am, made the same request only to be told to make the request later that evening and that it would require a room change (ok, fair enough)
Issue 2
Second day 2 large bath towels were not replaced despite used towels being removed. Reception was informed but no action taken - i had to find housekeeping and ask them to assist. After some enjoyable German charades, message got through and 3 minutes later towels arrived barely in time to be able to shower and make our appointment. Bad enough to not re stock with towels but to not action a polite follow up request. Upon mentioning this upon check out when requested "how was your stay?" was given the briefest of surprise apologies.

Room Tip: Ensure any bedding request is made AND confirmed well in advance.

I booked this hotel on a secondary site. The price was decent, despite being Oktoberfest weekend.

Well-stafffed front desk was waiting on arrival. The staff was efficient and friendly. Check in was quite simple.

Hotel lobby, Elevators, Hallways and Rooms were all well-lit, with big windows as well. It is such a nice feeling to be able to actually see where one is going.

Beds were firm and comfortable. Crisp white sheets and duvet covers. Big bathroom with a separate Lav and shower. Lots of space. The shower had both a handheld plus an overhead rain shower. That was a nice amenity after a night at the Wies'n.

The restaurant and bar had great food and service as well.

This is a nice addition to the Hauptbahnhof area.

Based on a recent 6 day stay at this hotel while on vacation:

PROS

- short walk from Hauptbahnhof main Munich train station (which is also the area from which many of the guided tours and excursions depart)
- hotel staff were very helpful and courteous, and most spoke English quite well (much better than my German :-)
- hotel lobby was bright, clean and modern
- 3 elevators so very little waiting to get up and down
- room was very modern, clean and bright
- the heating/cooling system worked well
- ample storage space
- comfortable, clean beds (extra pillows were provided when requested)
- very nice sink, shower and toilet facilities (the walk-in shower with large overhead shower was pretty cool, and having a separate toilet area with door was also nice)
- in-room safe provided
- the breakfast buffet was quite nice, lots to choose from and the service staff were very helpful
- the housekeeping was generally quite good, although occasionally something got missed like replacing drinking glasses, but no big deal
- a short 10 to 15 minute walk to the city centre to where many of Munich's historical sites, market, shopping and restaurants are located
- the in-room (included in room price) wi-fi was very useful, although we did notice that it would tend to stop working and then start again for some reason

CONS

- yes, the area around the hotel is kind of seedy, which seems pretty typical of most areas around main train stations, but it didn't seem dangerous at all, just kind of seedy
- as in many European hotels, no iron or ironing board are provided, although they do have a heated bath towel rack (I'll never understand the need for that :-)
- the breakfast buffet at 18 euros seemed a bit on the pricey side, but it may be a better deal when included in the room price

ALSO

- bring your own bath soap, the hotel only provides hand soap and shampoo
- as in many European hotels now, when you enter your room you need to insert your room card into a slot inside the door to activate the room lighting and heating/cooling system (and good luck figuring out all the light switches :-)
- the restaurant only appears to be open for the breakfast buffet, and there is no room service, not that this was an issue for us

All in all a very good experience and would definitely stay here again.
