This is a great property and exceeded our expectations. Check in was a breeze and we had an awesome corner room on the 7th (second highest) floor. The room was spacious, modern, clean, and very comfortable. I loved the window banquette overlooking the train station and the beautiful bathroom with separate shower and bathtub.

The spa is amazing and despite the fact the hotel was quite full with large corporate groups during our stay, the spa was usually quite empty. I loved the pool and the steam room and we used the gym each morning.

Sofitel's location is really good if you're arriving by train with luggage. We enjoyed the 15 minute walk to the centre of Munich each morning but loved coming back to the hotel for drinks in the lobby bar and relaxing in our room in the evening.

This hotel is good value and we will definitely stay here again.

If you are visiting Munich for the first time for play or business or a repeat visitor, this is a hotel to check out. This hotel never disappoints with the utmost in a welcoming attitude, service and cleanliness. Isar Bar is exceptional in their drink selection with some very nice treats to partake of while unwinding after a marathon shopping day or a business deal. The hotel is right next to the main train station so it is extremely convenient for many and its posh environment creates a real "chill" space. It's not inexpensive, but it is a true value for what you spend. You will forget about the "heavenly bed" when you put your head down as the bed is amazing.

Do yourself a favor and book a room at this property now!

Stayed as a couple between 25 till 29/08/12.Location cannot be beaten, beside Hautbahnhof and 10-15 min on foot straight to city centre. It is the old post of town and the building is very impressive.Lobby has a modern touch and the staff at the reception are very professional.Room was spacious and very clean.Bathroom was separated from wc with a like plexiglass thin wall [strange feeling in there].There was no bidet.Bathroom cosmetics were by Hermes!Bed was very relaxing but pillows were to soft for my sleeping habits. There was an LCD TV with a lot of german channels [fair enough].What was really disturbing for me was the unacceptable slow transfer rate on internet[either on free access mode or on premium Accor access].
No need to say that breakfast was delicious and with a lot of goodies variety. What I have to mention is a strange act from a breakfast staff member. As we sat on a 4 chairs table ,that guy came to us and politely asked to leave that table because ,he said it was reserved!BUT...there was no reserve sign on the table and later on,we noticed that one customer used that table[I am sure he has not reserved that].What happened was strange and annoying.
In general our stay was very relaxing and of course I would suggest Sofitel Munich to anyone.

Very modern hotel, located near the beautiful centre and next to the central station (Bahnhof). Staff is very professional and kind. Internet is free. The room was great, very clean and commodious. The bed was so comfortable. The price is very high, for example the breakfast costs about 30 Euro! I enjoyed my stay very much. It is one of the best hotel I have ever stayed.

Sofitel Bayerpost is a middle size luxury hotel in the center of Munich. We stayed for 9 nights alternating visits to the beautiful town and daily trips to neighbouring Bavarian sites. Despite being on the side of the main train station the location worked well for us. Connections to all public transport are great, and we could easily drive outside of town too.
Altogether it has been a really great vacation from all perspective. Munich deserves at least 4 days and the hotel had been an ideal base camp.
Sofitel is a luxury and welcoming hotel.
We booked two communicating double bedrooms, ideal to stay close to the children (12 and 8) while preserving our privacy. This was recommended by the booking team and better value than a suite. Rooms have all amenities one would expect from a 5 stars hotel (Hermes toiletry, quality slippers, bathrobes, linen etc, Nespresso and iPod player machines ...) in a modern sobre design. Bathrooms are really comfortable. Our were overlooking the railway rooftop. Not beautiful view but quite and we faced only with the blue sky and the sun.
Spa area has plenty to offer although located in the basement so had better times swimming in all kind of lakes on our trips.
Food definitely a strong point. Buffet offers one of the widest and highest quality we have seen. From large choice of excellent seasonal fruits which is not so common, to range of fruit juices several fresh, to many many excellent sorts of breads, and wide variety of prepared and cooked dishes.

Good:
Comfortable bedrooms
Fantastic breakfast buffet
Excellent cocktail bar (cocktails in the restaurant too)
Lovely and good restaurant with a nice terrace where we had more than one dinner when we wanted to upgrade from standard Bavarian / type of food.
Friendly staff in general, helpful concierge and a very friendly italian porter (do not remember his name) providing us with advice and water bottles

Less good
Do not know really as we were so pleased with our stay. Two little things : staff at breakfast entrance asked us our room number every morning. They could have recognized us and checked the room listing.
And also the location close to the main railway station. Not a problem, it is still Germany: safe and clean. But there are more typical neighborhoods in town

I stayed for business at the Sofitel (August 2012) and had high expectations because I have stayed at other Sofitels previously and have never been disappointed. Sadly this hotel does not live up to the high standard of its sister establishments elsewhere:
Staff at reception were very slow both at checkin and checkout - annoying for business travel
No newspaper was ever offered during the 6 day stay
I never received a turn-down service in the evening
Do not disturb sign was ignored every morning by cleaning staff resulting in unwelcome wake up door knocks
No hotel bill was forwarded to the room prior to check out
No one offered to help with bags at checkin and checkout.
Although the pool and spa are impressively large the fitness conscious traveller will not find them useful for exercise and the gym is tiny.
The hotel is located right next to the central station which albeit convenient for public transport does mean that the neighborhood is essentially the red-light district.
In addition to the issues above I found the habit by staff (mandated by management?) to greet you French rather than German pretentious and unnecessary. Breakfast was charged at an outrageous 31 euros per person. I compared notes with colleagues and there is clearly better accommodation in Munich for a fraction of the cost.

If you don"t mind an " opened bathroom" you will definitely enjoy this hotel.. I can not tell you about the breakfast, but you have complimentary cofee and tea in your room. The location is very close to the railstation and about 15 min walk from Marienplatz (you need good weather). I love this city in particular so i did have a very good time.. Enjoy the hotel, enjoy the city.. You will have a great time in Sofitel..
