“The BEST Staff - Tons of Fun”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

The Tent was the most refreshing break from Hostel stays, after traveling for several weeks. It was easy to get to via public transit, filled with fun and friendly people (from backpackers to couples to boy scout troops), and just a great atmosphere all around. We ate great food from the most wonderful and cheerful staff, and then drank beer and tea around the fire at night. I highly recommend staying here if you're wanting a chill and friendly experience, with easy access in and out of the city. I rented a lock from them for the lockers, fit my whole bag inside, and felt secure the whole time.

Room Tip: Arrive early during busy seasons if you want a bunk bed with one of your friends!

The Tent is a great place for younger people to stay for a few nights in Munich. There was three of us there, two in our own tent and one in the shared tent. We really enjoyed ourselves, the food was reasonably priced and definitely worth the money. the atmosphere during the day is super relaxed with people playing the sites own guitars, playing table tennis and lying in hammocks and sitting around a bonfire and socialising at night. However, they were very strict at night time with zero tolerance for noise of any kind after hours.Toward the end of our stay we noticed that certain members of staff were quite rude. for example they wouldn't sell certain beers to the campers, or shouting at people about rubbish. This did not kill the mood and I would certainly stay there again. It is very near the amazing hirschgarten too, which was an added bonus!

if you wanna go to oktoberfest with a group of friends but are not able to spend too much money in accommodation, then The tent is the right option.. Just bring your tent, do NOT forget a warm and comfortable sleeping back and that's all.. you can have breakfast at the restaurant of the place, take a hot shower (early to avoid queues) and then easily take you tram to oktoberfest!

We stayed at the Tent during Octoberfest which had it's ups and downs. On the up side, it was a great place to meet people. There's a great courtyard area with a fire pit at night that everyone gathers around. It's loud and fun. The downside is that many of the outgoing people that were at the fire pit continued to be loud inside the communal sleeping tent where all the bunk beds were, so bring your earplugs. I'm quite a heavy sleeper and even I found it difficult to sleep with all that noise. I'm willing to bet it would have been a lot quieter had we not been there during Octoberfest. Also the tent can be cold with just the blankets they provide so it's better to have a sleeping bag, and your own pillow, they don't provide pillows.

Other than that, the staff was really helpful and organized, and they were in the office 24hrs a day. They have tours of the city that you can join up with (another great way to meet friends), there are a variety of reasonably priced foods for breakfast, the showers are free, and there is also free wifi. Unfortunately the wifi connection wasn't fast enough for us to use and sometimes it didn't connect at all for us. There were three desktop computers for communal use but we just ended up finding an Internet connection when we went into the city.

We enjoyed the atmosphere and amenities of The Tent, and we felt we got what we had expected for the very low price. I think it's a great place to stay if you 1) want to meet people and make friends, 2) are a deep sleeper, and 3) are traveling with a sleeping bag.

I stayed at the Tent for Oktoberfest.

Location & Transportation: It may not be at the centre of the town yet transportation was so easy. You take Tram 17 (Passes every 10 mins) that takes you from the main Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) to Botanischer Garten (2 mins walk from the Tent). It takes about 15-20 mins which is perfect!

Accomodation: I stayed at the big tent. I was offered a bed and three blankets. More blankets were available upon request. The beds are comfortable yet the tent was cold as the heating system was weak.

Bathrooms: The bathrooms were super clean yet there is no heating system in the bathrooms! PS: there is no hair dryers, so girls, bring your own!

Setting: The setting was great. The camp fire outside was very interesting. I met a lot of people from many nationalities and it was fun.

I would definitely stay there again yet only during the spring - summer period!

I'm just back from staying at The Tent for Oktoberfest 2013! I camped there so I cannot comment on the dorm/floor space. THere was good camping grounds with options for being under a tree or out in the open. THe campsite is easily accessible from the city centre and Oktoberfest by tram which takes 10-15mins. The cafeteria area has a good range of breakfast items, bread, ham, cheese, pastires tea, coffee. During the day, you can get tea, coffee, snacks and toasted sandwiches as well as beer. In the evening, you can get whatever the night special is, like burgers or hotdogs at a cheap price. There is outdoor seating under umbrelas. The staff are friendly and you can charge your electricals at reception or at an outside point near the cafeteria. There is a basketball and volleyball area for good weather fun and they do a bonfire at night to gather round, weather permitting. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Showers are good and I always got hot water even with a slightly later shower at 11am. Toilets are cleaned regularly and also had toilet roll! The reception area also has spare things for purchase if you forgot them like razor, toothbrush etc. The staff do a great job of keeping the campsite quiet after 1am. I definitely recommend this as a cheap and fun way to stay during the Oktoberfest celebtrations. Though we were lucky with the weather!

Myself and a group of 8 friends were struggling for a place to stay, I was recommended The Tent by a friend who lives in Munich. It was really cheap, worked out about 40 Euro for 3 nights stay and we had booked a 10 man pitch for our tent.

The facilities were great, clean toilets and shower facilities, WIFI, place to eat and drink and the breakfasts were decent (pay obviously), secure lockers which are free (you have to provide your own padlock), phone charging facilities for free too.

There was a campfire on site too which was great at night, everyone gathered round and got speaking to many different nationalities.

The tram, Tram 17 that takes you from the main Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) to Botanischer Garten takes about 15-20 mins which is ideal.

No negatives about this place at all because value for money was great and what a laugh.

Good time had by all.

Thanks

Room Tip: Book early and get a bunk in the main tent, saves having to transport a tent about.
