The hotel Laimer Hof is located in a quiet suburb on the airport side of Munich. There is a direct train from the airport to a station 15 mins walk from the hotel. A tram to the city is 10 mins walk and a 10-15 min ride. The welcome from Sebastian and his staff could not be warmer and they cannot do enough to make your stay pleasant and hassle free. Our room was small but very clean and with a new bed that was very comfortable. The shower worked very well with plenty of instant hot water and plenty of power. The breakfast is very good value at Euro10, there's lots to eat and plenty of choices of coffee's. The hotel served us with beer and wine at lower prices than locally. The Hirstgarten beer garden and restaurant is a 15 min walk and serves excellent food at good prices. This is a great hotel, well located and with lots of character. I would highly recommend it.

The Laimer Hof hotel offered everything I was looking for in a place to stay in Munich -- classic looking building, nice quiet neighbourhood, friendly staff and fellow guests, easy access to public transportation, shops and an affordable price. My room was large, comfortable and everything was easy to operate.
The hotel is just a 15 minute tram ride to central Munich. It is also walking distance to the Nymphenburg Palace and scenic grounds. I went for a jog along the palace grounds which were empty except for a few ducks swimming peacefully in the water. And there are a number of shops just a five minute walk where you can buy almost anything you need. I needed to get some shaving items and the pharmacy is just a short stroll from the hotel.
Sebastian was informative and helpful, especially with figuring out my train trips to Inglestaad and Innsbruck.
I stay at a lot of large chain hotels for work but Sebastian provides something that the bigger hotels often neglect to provide and that is friendly service.
I forgot my Munich travel book at home but it didn't matter because Sebastian had plenty of great suggestions on what to see and do. I decided to take the "Sebastian Tour" of the old city centre which turned out to be easy to follow and very informative.
Sebastian comes from a family of hotel operators so he has plenty of experience in the industry and recognizes the value of taking extra time to help out with a question or making sure your room has everything you need to feel comfortable. Sometimes at the big hotels you have to be a rewards member to get good service but Sebastian makes everyone feel like they are gold members of his hotel club.

We had a great 5 nights in Munich. The Location of Hotel Laimer Hof is superb, we took the S Bahn from the Airport to Laim and walked the 15 minutes to the hotel. The Staff who all spoke fluent English were very helpful, courteous and understanding. You can get your daily travel passes for all the trains trams and buses direct at the hotel, which saves mucking about with coins at the station. The transport system is excellent, and you can travel all over the city with ease. The Hotel accommodation, although basic, is very tidy, clean and homely.
The Hirschgarten is close by, Great Beer and Food. We felt safe walking in this residential area at night.
We originally came to Munich to see a FC Bayern Munich football game. (That was the hightlight of our trip, the Allianz Arena is amazing and they won!) We really did enjoy our stay in Munich, and plan to return. When we do, we would certainly look to stay at Hotel Laimer Hof again. Congratulations to Sebastian, Alexandra and Staff and Thank You.

We stayed at the laimer hof for four nights in feb 2014 for my partners 40th birthday and the hotel was perfect. I had contacted prior to our visit and a bottle of champagne was in the room with no trouble at all. The staff are all wonderful but I must mention jan as the stand out member of staff. He was wonderful so helpful, informative and very funny. The hotel itself is in a lovely quiet location and is only 10 mins on tram to the centre. We loved that it was a bit out of the centre and that the hotel had a certain special charm. The rooms were spotless and very spacious for our needs we were in the family room on the top floor. As said in other reviews the decor is a bit dates but we felt that added to the charm of the place. The maid from Kosovo was so sweet and friendly and made sure everything was immaculate. The breakfast had ample continental choice and we felt good value for money with coffee tea juice etc they will also cook fresh eggs any way you want on request. All in all this was a fantastic stay in a wonderful hotel but the staff really made it special for us. Thank you so much love Becky and Darren from Manchester UK x

This is probably the most welcoming and friendly hotel I've ever been too. It's a little way out from the centre but I actually liked this as there is a palace just around the corner and it was very quiet at night. There are trams and trains a plenty so it's only about ten mins into town and the ticket that we bought at the airport included all these options throughout our holiday. The hotel is good value and it was so refreshing to meet such helpful and friendly people. There is a good selection of Bavarian restaurants within easy walking distance. If I ever return to Munich I would definitely head back to this hotel. If you fancy a drink before heading out for the evening the prices are very reasonable. We didn't eat at the hotel so I can't comment on that. If good service is important to you then this is hotel is a very good option.
