Room was on the top floor we knew there was no elevator. The room was extremly hot. when we complained they told us not to open the windows. It was hotter in the room than outside. When we returned there was a nasty note on the door telling us to beep the windows closed. The breakfast was nothing special and the restaurant was not open. Wanted to check out early and was told we would have to pay for nights reserved.

The Hotel Munchner Kindl is a great family run hotel in die Alstadt, a block away from Die Augustiner-Großgaststätten, and in a really good location. The owner is most wonderful - her hotel is comfortable, very clean, and charming. Rick Steves recommended the hotel, and he was right to do so.

The hotel is located in the central location. Close to everything! It's even a walking distance to the main train station (or u can catch a short subway ride). We were uprated to a superior room on the top 5th floor! The room was very cool! They dont have an elevator (since it's in the old historical building), but we didn't mind the walking. The breakfast is in the bar downstairs which is pretty cool too:)

This hotel is steps from the Marienplatz very close to places to eat and lots of shopping and culture. Owners were pretty helpful in giving us direction and providing us breakfast (which is not included in the price of the room). The hotel itself is pretty quiet but the street side is a bit noisy especially on a weekend due to a bar being next door. I wanted a street side room thought so thats my fault...I'm used to European rooms being small...thats expected, but the bathroom was literally a closet. We had a hard time using the toilet and not bumping our elbows and other vunerable limbs on anything. Overall for the price it is ok, munich is a pretty expensive city and you won't find anything this close to the city center for near the price. Worth it for convenience.

We stayd there from the 31st of december 2010 an we were planning to be there to the 6th. At the second night, my partner spotted a couple of bugs in the bed... and he found an entry from one of the panel's were it crawled with literally hundreds of bed bugs!
We were bidden all over our bodies.

We captured 3 of them and presented it to the Hotel owner Gunther. All we wanted was another room.

When we told the so-called-nice man Gunther. He went over the roof and said we had them with us on purpose. He did not believe bed bugs existed nor that it is a problem in munich.
So we checked out and found something better - and cheaper. Because the hotel is actually not cheap.
When we got home to Sweden, we called a friend of the family who is an expert in insects from the university of Oslo. He said it is impossible to overlook this and the size of them and numbers mean THEY ARE ALLE OVER THE HOTEL!

We complained to the tourist board, 2 scandinavian embassy's were notified and moreover we filed a report on him to the police, since we know - that HE knew that he had this problem.

Can not recommend this at all. It is by not cheap, the location can be better and moreover they have this huge problem with bed bugs.

The hotel is in a very good spot close to Marienplatz on a fairly quiet one way street. Renate is a true pleasure to deal with. The breakfast was sufficient. After staying there, my wife and I were both surprised that Rick Steves had recommended it. This is a completely basic, no frills place to sleep. If that is all you're looking for, and they give you a great price, then take it, but be warned that something in this hotel smells VERY bad. I have read reviews that people had issues with the smell of smoke, but my wife and I smelled sewage. It was disgusting. We have stayed at Rick Steves recommended hotels in 8 different countries, and we are rarely disappointed, but this was definitely a disappointment.

We reserved 2 rooms here during Oktoberfest. Our confirmation email was for 2 rooms with double beds and a sink in each room, with shower and toilet down the hall. When we arrived, we found out they had lied to us...there was NO SHOWER...just a toilet . Since it was Oktoberfest...we were stuck! Don't stay here!
