First, this hotel is in a great spot. Just a few quick blocks to Marienplatz and the Opera House, a few quick steps to Hofbrauhaus and Schuhbecks restaurant - we were still discovering places that were right around the corner on our last day there. The hotel has an unfussy entry, not a true lobby, but as soon as you step in you get a feel for the character of the place: a few unexpected steps to the front desk, a charming open-air courtyard in the back, narrow stairs and hallways, and a tiny elevator (2 people + 2 suitcases means 2 trips). The room we had was a spacious suite (generously referred to as an apartment) that was great, with a private vestibule, a terrific compact kitchen in the living area, big bedroom and roomy bathroom. The furniture was more practical than luxurious, and the shower required an awkward dismount (you'd understand if you saw it), and there were a few other things that made the place interesting. But the room was comfortable, the staff was great, and we wouldn't hesitate recommending this hotel as a great home base when visiting Munich. Breakfast is available (but not included) and the hotel does have a nice onsite restaurant, and there are several really nice restaurants and bakeries less than a block away. The kitchen was a true bonus, with an espresso machine, refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher, as was the onsite laundry room for freshening up your wardrobe without the laundry service fee.
