This is a beautiful church. We took a wonderful walk to visit. Be sure to read the back story about the church. It certainly adds to its charm

As other reviewers have already written, this is a small church, but it is very beautifully decorated. It is very conveniently located near Marienplatz, the centre of town. It also has an interesting story behind why it was built and why it is so intricately decorated. It definitely stands out, being a church in the middle of a commercial area.

Amazing work from Asam brothers at Munchen downtown. You can adore all the fine work and go back to the golden era of the Kingdom of Bavaria

The Asamkirche is worth seeing if you enjoy seeing beautiful old churches. Don't miss the skeleton painting with a pair of scissors, cutting the life thread.

Asamkirche is a small church close by to Marienplatz with the most intricate elaborate décor. It is easy to pass by without noticing because it's surrounded by modern shops and stores. I would imagine 10-15 minutes is enough time to take in all the décor, so this is not an all day excursion, nor do I think it is worth making a special trip for unless you are extremely religious or extremely into Baroque time period. If you are already going to be exploring Munich and around the Marienplatz, step in for a look. Like I said, we only needed 10-15 minutes to admire this 'jewel-box' of church. Note: the church was not open until afternoon on the day we were there. It was a Friday in July. I am not sure if that was normal schedule or special circumstance.
