The dukes/kings of Bavaria's summer palace this time, so only immense. Beautiful building, immediately spottable from the tram stop, looks very elegant and picture-book Bavaria. Sadly disappointed to find the house was closed for filming (I think) when we visited. Enjoyed a walk around the extensive gardens and visited the 4 very different and interesting 'pavilions' in the grounds, each easily bigger than my 4 bedroom house - best garden sheds ever.

Easy to get to on the tram from the centre of Munch and will occupy most of your day. We also went to the Botanic Garden which is very close by. The collection of coaches and sleighs is stunning. The interiors are magnificent. The buildings in the grounds are also outstanding. The grounds are mainly landscape and formal Baroque and vast.

Looking for a great place to run in Munich? The trails along the canals and forests of Nymphenburg Palace are flat, uncrowded and scenic. Early in the morning, the leftmost gate as you approach the Palace is open early. When my wife and I ran there on a Saturday morning, the swans and ducks way outnumbered the people. There's even significant shade along the canals if you want to do a run later in the day.

We took a short taxi ride from Hotel Torbrau to get here.
The palace was beautiful on the inside.
The grounds were beautiful- a person could spend the entire day just exploring the grounds.
Definitely worth visiting.

And to think this was a summer retreat. Breathtaking. So picturesque. A Munich stop must be here. Grounds are amazing.
