“What a great place!”
Reviewed October 22, 2010

We stayed here for 3 nights in October, 2010. It was a mere 3 days after Oktoberfest ended, and the hotel is perhaps 100 meters away from the Theresienwiese Oktoberfest grounds. However, the neighborhood was incredibly quiet. It's an easy 10-15 minute walk to the Marienplatz.

The hotel building is a bit old, but very charming and actually quite beautiful on the outside. Our room was fairly large, with a nice balcony, and was immaculately clean. There is free Wifi, and the breakfast was excellent. Even the prices for the minibar were reasonable. The bed seemed to be an actual large bed instead of two twin beds shoved together, and the the standard german feather bedding as well. It was very comfortable. The bathroom was not huge but plenty big enough, very clean, and everything worked well. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Really, it would be tough to beat this place for the price and we will certainly stay here agin when we return to Munich

This was our first hotel in Germany. The staff is extremely helpful (fluent in English). We had a room for four which was very spacious. Breakfast was great, though the "service" a little slow with turnover. The location is good, though it is a walk into the city center. It wasn't a problem for us. Right next to Oktoberfest though it wasn't going on yet. Close to train station, but not a lot of restaurants nearby. Quiet. We stayed again at the end of our trip and our room, though non-smoking, smelled of stale smoke. We didn't ask to switch because it didn't seem to bother the other members of my family.

This is the second time my wife and I has stayed at this hotel. We stayed here during the 2008 Oktoberfest with other members of our families. We stayed in room 34 on the top floor, I think this was a newly renovated room and it was huge and modern. It had a separate area for your bags, a sitting area and a huge bathroom. The room was clean a comfortable and as I said huge. There was free parking and Wifi internet and the breakfast was decent. This hotel is perfect for the Oktoberfest and not too far from the Hauptbahnhof. The staff were friendly and we had a good time here. Just one negative is for the Oktoberfest bookings, you can not reserve a room by credit card, you have to do a money transfer by bank or UPS. This is a hassle and there are fees taken out from both ends. Can you please just take the money from my credit card, I am will to pay for the transaction fee. We might be coming next year again.

Hotel Uhland is an older building in a convenient location: on foot it is 10 minutes from the Haupbahnhof, 4 minutes from a U-bahn station, 15 minutes to the Sendlinger Tor entry to the central district. The street is normally very quiet, the other buildings on the block are embassies and the like. However it is only a block from the Teresenwiese grounds where Oktoberfest is held, so during that two weeks it might be noisier. There is room for 6-8 cars around the building off the street so it is possible, if they are full and you come in late, you might have to park in the street, and hustle out in the morning to buy a "parkschein" ticket.

We stayed a week and found the facility spotless, the staff always cheerful and friendly and speaking adequate English, the breakfast spread good. Unusually, they will do a bulk load of laundry for a reasonable price, as opposed to the usual "3 euros per sock" pricing. All in all, highly recommended.

My wife and I chose the Uhland based on TripAdvisor comments and we were very pleased. Between the reasonable price, ideal location, off-street parking (a real value during Octoberfest), delicous breakfasts, clean and quiet rooms and friendly, personable staff I don't see how we could have done better. I would definitely recommend the Uhland to anyone visiting Munich.

Hotel Uhland is "your home away from home" while staying in Munich. The hotel is clean, the staff helpful, and the value is excellent. It is just a block away from Octoberfest and within walking distance to shopping at the Marienplatz. The European style breakfast is very good and included in the room price. There is laundry service available at a minimal fee and no charge for parking your vehicle. This is "the place to stay" if you are looking for great value and customer service.

I choose this hotel because of its close location to (and it's relatively cheaper price during) the Oktoberfest and I was not disappointed at all. The hotel is practically next to the Theresienwiese (where Oktoberfest is located - literally 3mins walk) and only 5 mins walk from the Theresienwiese underground station (U-Bahn). The cost of staying in a very spacious double-bed room (even includes with a large sofa) for two nights, during the festival, was very cheap compare to other hotels.

It's in a very quiet street and we hardly hear anything at night despite being next to one of the largest beer festival in the world. The staffs were very friendly and helpful, we missed our breakfast one morning but the staff suggested us to take something from the kitchen and offered us a pot of lovely coffee in the lounge area.

There's a free wifi in our room and a computer is available for accessing the internet in the main lounge (where there's a large coffee machine serving FREE coffee and hot chocolate).

All in all, we had a very pleasant staying in Hotel Uhland and would definitely be back there again next time we visit Munich!!
