“Great location, good for families”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

My family of four stayed at the Hotel Adria in mid-July. The hotel was easy to get to from the airport using public transportation. We liked the quiet residential neighborhood that the hotel is located in. We also enjoyed watching the adorable schoolchildren walking and riding their bikes to school in the morning. We had a quad room on the top floor. It was quite warm during our stay, so the room was very hot and there is not AC. We did have a fan, and we were able to have the windows open all night. The neighborhood was very quiet at night. The room itself was clean and well equipped. It was not huge, but adequate for a family of 4. We did not have breakfast at the hotel, as there are several more reasonably priced options nearby. The location was great for access to Marienplatz and the English Garden -- all within walking distance. Only down side was the less than enthusiastic front desk staff.

We stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights to explore Munich. The location is perfect, in a nice residential area just a short (and very pretty) walk away from the town center.
The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great and reasonably priced. With the business breakfast, which is only marginally more expensive than standard breakfast, you get WIFI access as well.
The room and bathroom were ok, although it was quite hot in there. Opening the windows is an option but in the morning the road gets quite busy and loud. This was however not a major issue and is quite normal for a big city.
Next time we're going to Munich we're definitely going back to this hotel.

The Adria Hotel's Lehel location is outstanding for exploring Munich on foot or by transit. It's in quiet residental area just outside the alt stadt and close to a U-Bahn. The hotel itself is pleasant enough and very clean. tThe lady at the front desk was quite rude and not helpful at all. Our room which was billed as a family room was very cramped for our family of five. It consists of a slightly oversized hotel room with a couple of mattresses thrown on the floor next to the queen bed. It was not particulalry warm in Munich when we visted but our room was like a sauna. Overall, not a great hotel but it met our needs and the location was ideal.

The hotel is in a very convenient location, and the family room we had was clean and spacious for four of us. We were there for five nights and ate out in different local restaurants each night! Breakfast was a bit pricey in the hotel, so we used local cafes and bakeries for breakfast - all within a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. Can recommend Cafe Kosi on Seitz Strasse (only Mon-Fri though).
Convenience of being near the city centre, but in a residential area.

This hotel is in a great location - easy access from the airport with a train. Only 15 minutes walk into Marienplatz and the centre of town and a prime location for a lovely walk in the English Gardens. Hotel staff, especially night receptionist, were very friendly and welcoming. Rooms were comfortable and very clean. Although breakfast at the hotel is expensive, there are some brilliant nearby options - great local cafe less than 20 metres which is very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend for a city break.

We came to Munich to visit on our way through Germany. We arrived via train and took a taxi to the hotel (my wife, myself and 2 kids) for about 12 euro. The hotel itself was very nice, roomy and clean. The location was very quiet and in a nice kind of residential area. It is very walkable (15-20 min) to the Marienplatz although it is only about 5 minutes to the subway which gets you all over town very quickly. The price was pretty decent especially for the family room. The front desk staff was quite helpful in finding restaurants and transportation. Breakfast was a bit pricey but very convenient and good.

I went to Munich with 4 mates for a guys weekend away. The organiser picked this hotel for it's price and location.

Arriving at Munich airport on the Friday afternoon we took a taxi straight to the hotel (about 60 EUR but far quicker than public transport).

When we arrived, despite having booked two twin rooms the receptionist advised us that they only had 1 twin and 1 'queen'. We asked if there were any options and she said she would see what she could do. Tapped away at her computer for a few moments then threw the keys at us and said her English wasn't very good and walked away.

We went to the rooms and the twin room was very small and absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke.

The 'queen' room was actually very good - two individual beds sitting next to each other with single duvet/sheets. Very spacious, had a walk in wardrobe and a large bathroom and smelled quite nice. So, neither room was ideal but we couldn't really complain about the queen one.

Breakfast was 14 EUR which was a bit excessive.

Location was excellent - a short walk into town and a very short walk to the Munich 'English' gardens (a brilliant park when it is 30 degrees and brilliant sunshine - if the weather be prepared and have a dip in the river). Also, check out the river surfing on the Eisbach at the entrance to the gardens. (look it up on youtube!)

Recommendations nearby? Biergarten Viktualienmarkt and Hofbräuhaus for beer drinkers, Hard Rock Cafe for casual drinks in a less traditional German setting, Atomic Cafe for a chilled out quiet club playing great music, and Sausalitos for a lively pub with a club-like atmosphere that is open late.

As for the hotel, if you're only wanting somewhere to sleep and you don't intend on spending any time at the hotel, and are not overly bothered by a stinking room or awkward staff then this place is ideal for location and cost.
