The hotel was average. I was there for 2 days. Small rooms , clean and value for money. We went during off season so it was good. Or the rates seemed too high. Its little away from the main tourist places. We dint see much additions in the room coz we dint want to spend time in the room , we wanted to roam out and explore Munich.

This is probably one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The room was cramped, smelled of cigarette smoke, and the furnishings were dirty. The carpet in particular was shabby and worn, and the walls were paper thin- TVs and other guests' conversations could be heard at a very loud volume. Room prices are unrealistic and far too expensive for what there is. The only plus point that I can think of is the location as it's quite close to the city centre. Munich is a great place to visit but I would definitely recommend staying at a different hotel!

We stayed in the Hotel Montree at the start of the Oktoberfest at the end of September this year. I accept that prices become inflated at this period when Munich is fully booked and crowded but we paid HUGE and totally unrealistic rates for what was a very very modest hotel. (I note that the rates are very much reduced now that the fest is over). It is worth noting that the lovely professional photos of the public areas of the hotel give a very erroneous impression. The public areas are quite pleasant but they belie the reality of the bedrooms.

The major problem is that the rooms are extremely small and shabby. When we arrived we were given room 304. It was little more than a storage cupboard and should certainly not be designated a double room. It really took some nerve to present this as expensive overnight accommodation for two adults. The two very small beds were in a line along the wall and even at that, we had difficulty pushing past each other into the even smaller bathroom. In fact, this room is too small to be used as a hotel room at all and really makes me wonder about the 3-star category of this hotel. We expressed our disappointment to the manager and were moved later that evening into a somewhat bigger room - still smaller than most hotel rooms. We were shocked to have been given such a tiny room initially when there were other somewhat larger rooms still not occupied

It is obvious that the owners cannot make the rooms larger but they should most certainly use some of their considerable profit to refurbish the rooms so that they at least look fresh and clean. The carpets are dismally overdue a change - it could not possibly cost a prohibitive amount to refurbish the 45 small rooms with new attractive carpets, pretty curtains and and a few colourful yet not expensive lamps and pictures. It would be a transformation.
Having said all of the above, the bed was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also clean and functioned properly. Even the threadbare carpet appeared to have been vacuumed. The staff were very polite and pleasant and helped us patiently with our enquiries about public transport and eating out (lovely big beer hall just down the road from hotel with very good value meals and superb beer. Also, the Hotel Europe with its elegant bar is just a few minutes walk along the road from the hotel in the opposite direction to the beer hall).
The breakfast room was a really nice space and breakfast was more than adequate. (I should say that it cost an additional 10 euros per person per breakfast!) There was a plentiful supply of boiled eggs, cold meats, cheeses, a variety of yoghurts with tinned fruit and a variety of breads. There were very few people in the breakfast room which suggested that most guests had decided to breakfast elsewhere.

One really interesting and enjoyable trip that we took while in Munich was to Neuschwanstein Castle and the rural areas surrounding Munich. We did this with Pure Bavarian Tours and guide Mario, who was a pleasure to be with.
I think that it is definitely possible to get a better-value hotel in Munich than the Montree.

Room Tip: Do not accept room 304

Noisy, Dirty, expensive.

The carpet is pierced by cigarettes.
One morning, there was no warm water.

The rooms that are on the street are very very noisy. Moreover, there is no air conditioning, so if you don't want to have 30° in your room you should try to sleep with the window opened.
Ear protection are mandatory. In this case, you wil sleep with the light of the "Hotel" neon sign ... or not.

The breakfast is ok.

One good point, the hotel is quite near the town centre.

To avoid !

...and bad service, too. Like the other reviews state, everything is badly outdated: the room is tiny, the carpet is worn out and stained, it's very warm and stuffy in the room, and the fridge doesn't really work. I could tolerate those things. But the bed is inexcusable. Seriously the worst sleep I've ever had. I asked the night manager for some extra pillow to hopefully make it more bearable. He promised to bring them, but never did. The next morning I asked the day manager, who also promised to bring them, but also never did. Take my advice: spend the extra 20 bucks to stay somewhere comfortable, there are a lot better options than this!

Pros: friendly front staff, cheap rate, good location (close to trams and walkable from train station)

Cons: very small tired rooms, no air con, no fans, window opens just a crack (do not stay here during a heat wave), hot water smells, tiny tv that needs vertical hold help.

Ok for cheap quick stay. Do not pay mote than 60 euro
