“good location, friendly staff, good value for money”
Reviewed September 29, 2011

I would recommend this hotel for the location & friendly staff plus the buffet breakfast is nice & served in roof top with a nice early morning view . We did find it a bit noisy with our windows opened to get the fresh air at night. May be there's other room not facing the main street & will be charged a bit more?...didn't bother to find out since we were there for only 2 nites. Room is basic but clean, & the bath room is very tiny but also clean, so we are happy , will certainly stay there again if we ever come back to Munich.

Room Tip: check the room first before paying, if facing the main road, ask for alternative.

I arrived here to stay for one night before catching a flight in the morning out of the Munich airport. It is in the heart of the main train station area, and walking directly out of the southern exit of the station takes you a few blocks to the hotel. The area is neither better nor worse than other areas near the station, but for me there was concern due to road construction in front of the hotel: heavy equipment and plywood walkways almost into the hotel lobby. This is in early July 2011, so probably not a long-term problem.

Checkin efficient and polite, and the room was old, but spotless. Wakeup call was on time, and the breakfast was good, but a bit limited. Due to location to the train station and airport bus stop, plus a good rate, I would recommend this hotel for a night or two in Munich.

This was a dad/daughter trip to Europe, her first time "backpacking" . We arrived early in Munich after a night train trip from hell (we were in a 6 capacity cabin with 7 people in it -are they truly allowed to consider a 3 year old whiny child as not needing to require a seat??). I digress. Although our original plan was to go onto Austria that day and double back the next as our hotel reservation at Hotel Schweiz was for the following day, we opted to see if they had availability and just stay in Munich as my daughter wasn't feeling great nor was I for that matter. The large billboards of litre sized beer helped solidify the decision.
We were hoping for a bit of an early check in if a room was available for the extra night. Not only did the friendly staff find us a room but they let us check right in, this was at 10 AM. They also gave me the same rate that I booked on-line for the original reservation which I thought was very fair - at that point I would have paid more but again, appreciated the fact I didn't have to. Having to wait around until 2 PM could have really thrown a wrench into what to this point had been a great trip but their willingness to accomodate I feel should be recognized so that if others are in the same boat, the hotel management will know it is noticed and appreciated.
Rooms were standard European size, very clean and proximity to the train station was great and really easy to find. They have a huge Hotel Schweiz sign painted on the side of their hotel which can be seen a block away as you approach from the train station (exit directly to your right and Goethe Strasse is right there). A great market and bakery a block away and around the corner was a bonus. I really appreciated their friendly service and found this great value for what we paid and would not hesitate to stay here again!

Room Tip: You don't stay here for the view for sure.

We chose this hotel after much research into hotels, prices and location and deciding to opt for something reasonably priced and close to the centre. It certainly is a good location as far as proximity to the centre and train station is concerned (5 mins walk to main station), but the streets immediately surrounding the hotel weren't that nice (think sex shops and used mobile phone outlets...). This said, we didn't have any trouble and didn't hear of anything.
The hotel itself is somewhat basic and quite dated. The room was clean but in desperate need of decorating. Annoyingly you can buy wifi time from reception but this is not included in the price for the room. Our room looked onto a busy and noisy street and, as there was no air con, having the window open to let air in proved noisy at night. Also tea and coffee was meant to be available downstairs but we only managed this once. Other times there was nothing there or the urn was stone cold. The staff were friendly and helpful.
If you head to Munich definitely look for the free 'New Europe' Tours that leave from Hauptbahnhof as these were brilliant.

Hotel Schweiz wasn't in the nicest part of town but it was conveniently located 2 blocks from the main train station, making transportation easy. Accommodations were decent, with the exception of wifi. Wifi cost extra and the connection quality was pretty poor. Staff was helpful though. Sleep was interrupted, but in all fairness, there was construction going on around the corner that caused the disturbances.

I visited Munich and stayed only one night on my travel to Alps. Schweiz hotel is situated in the center of Munich, small distance from Railway Station. Rooms are small with very small bathroom. No air condition which may be very important during the Summer!!! It is not so comfortable that you must park your car in another, neigbouring hotel. Nevertheless the price is not so high and it is worth to chose Schweiz for short stay in this beutiful city.

I stayed here for 4 nights in April 2011. I was given room 502 which was a very small en suite single although it did have almost everything that was required - a single bed, desk, chair, wardrobe and a TV. A complimentary bottle of water was provided in the room. Despite a large number of TV channels being available the only English language programme was BBC World. The TV was placed on a shelf like construction above, but attached to, the desk and was so close to the bed as to be almost impossible to watch in comfort. The bathroom was also very small but OK. The room itself looked as if it had recently been painted and was clean and well maintained. I paid 190 Euros for the 4 nights. My room was directly below the breakfast room and I was awakened at 0615 hours by the noise of furniture being moved. Breakfast was available at an additional charge of 6 Euros 50 cents. It was the usual European style buffet breakfast: cereals, eggs, sausages, bread, cold meats, cheese, jams, fruit, yoghurt, tea, coffee, fruit juice. Everything was fresh and was of good quality. Although there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, free refreshments were available in the lobby during the day.
The staff were friendly, helpful and willing to spend time giving hints and recommendations. Mr Jobert in particular did a great job on reception.
The hotel is located a 3 or 4 minute walk from the main railway station, the U-bahn, S- bahn, buses and trams and is a 10 minute walk from the old town centre. The area immediately around the hotel is distinctly Turkish with lots of places to eat cheaply if you don't mind pizza, kebabs etc. A few sex shops also feature in the area but I did not see any evidence of sex workers on the street and felt perfectly safe walking through the area at night.
Overall this is a good choice at a reasonable price.

Room Tip: Avoid the 5th floor if you're a late riser
