“Good little hotel room, great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2014

I stayed here one night on a layover in may. The room was pretty clean and came with a nice bathroom and free wifi. The location of the hotel was hard to be beat, it was about a five minute walk to the main train station. Decent price, nice staff.

Good location, very good breakfast, helpful staff, but rooms too cramped and beer at the bar was not chilled. They have only 2 cycles for guests! Considering Munich is extremely cycle friendly this was sad.

Hotel is right in center of city with easy access of train station and marionsplatte. Rooms are small but comfortable. Breakfast was always good. Small patio nice. Over
all good value for the price. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is two short blocks to the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) which is why I picked it. All of the desk staff I met were cheerful, helpful and courteous. The breakfast buffet has a vast selection with a lovely presentation, so while others have commented that it is pricey, the quality and variety at least partly compensate for it. The room was typical size for Europe, clean, tastefully decorated and not shabby or worn. The shower was modern, actually about 36 x 36 inches which is big for a European hotel, fully tiled, and had a full glass door, not one of those half-doors that swing over a bathtub and don't prevent the floor from getting soaked like you find in many European hotels. The only negative was a slight sewer gas smell which was only noticeable when standing by the sink or toilet.

We recently stayed here for 3 nights. The rooms are not huge but are really clean and well-appointed. Bathroom was also small but shower was excellent. Temperature of room was perfect and we did not hear a sound either from within or outside the hotel throughout our entire stay. Staff are polite and helpful. Free log in code for Wi-Fi given to us on check-in. Managed to get into our room early on day of check-in and they will keep your cases for free when you check-out and are not going home until later. Breakfast was included in our price and was plentiful and tasty. Bar was a little pricier than others around and was quite a small area but we did enjoy a couple of drinks there one night. Hotel is about a 5 min walk from central train station and about a 10 min easy walk into town. When you walk from the station you will see the 4 star Kings hotel in front of you but just look left and you will see the 3 star Kings Center about 50 yards along on the left. We were given a map of the city and directions when booking in.
To get from the airport take either the S1 or S8 to Munich Haptbahnhof and walk the short distance. Price is just over 10 euros per person for a single trip.
Weather was very hot while we were there and we spent 2 days roaming around the sights of the city. The old town is lovely and the English Garden with its river surfers and Chinese Tower beer garden including oom-pah band was a nice day out.
We also took the train to Herssching about an hour away and walked for about an hour overlooking a lake to the Andechs Monastery on the top of a hill. It also has a lovely beer keller selling their home made beer at reasonable prices. We took a different route down through a forest. While at the monastery you can climb to the top of the tower for a euro,
Another day we took the S2 train to Dachau. When you get off the train at Dachau station you take the 726 bus towards Saubachsiedling, getting off at KZ Gedenkstrasse for Dachau Memorial site. The train and bus ticket is combined and the site has free entry. We spent about 5 hours there and it is not as vivid as Auschwitz as initially political prisoners were kept there.
We visited some really good beerkellers where we also ate our evening meals. The Hofbrauhaus was worth a visit and there is a free museum on the third floor and a band playing on Sundays and at other times. There are 2 really good Augustinier beer kellers nearby. One is in the main shopping precinct and the other has a huge garden and can be reached by walking left out of the hotel towards and past the Spaten brewery until you reach the circus then turn left. There is also a really good bar called The Shakespeare near the hotel, Again walk left until you see a side street containing Aldi store. It is just opposite Aldi and does pints for 3 euros and cocktails for 4 euros from 7-9pm every night. We paid between 3 and 5 euros for a pint and the same for wine but most people seemed to be drinking litres of beer for around 7 euros. There is a Netto opposite the hotel but the Aldi previously mentioned is insanely cheap for water, soft drinks, snacks and wine.
We certainly enjoyed our time in Munich and would recommend the Kings Center to anyone considering a visit.

This nice hotel is well placed within easy walking distance of the city centre. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Beautifully clean, light room. Excellent (pricey at 15 Euros) breakfast. Highly recommended.
