What can you say about a place like this that has five star expectations. Mostly whether it meets that rating. But somehow our stay was still more than we'd hoped for. The way we were treated right from the start, and at every point after also. The pure class of it all. A special shout out to Alexander at the bar, who was as nice (and talented) as he could possibly be. We went for the full experience, and reserved a dinner in the restaurant. It was the full five star dining experience (I won't even try and describe the excellence of the food and wine..use your imagination.), with the waiters dancing on fingertips. We spent three a half hours at dinner, and it still seemed to end too soon. Very formal but not pretentious. Breakfast was over the top. One morning i did wear a T shirt to breakfast, and felt bad about it immediately. Not because they said anything, but because I realized it wasn't worthy of the environment, even for breakfast. Sitting in the lobby, we tried to feel it all, because they're rebuilding the hotel in a couple years. We hope very much they maintain some of the current fixtures, to preserve the "feel" of it. We'd love to go back and see what they've done. And oh yes, the location is just perfect. Take the escalator down to the circular shopping mall and all the up escalators are marked with the tram numbers. Once you learn the routes, you can go anywhere easily. We loved Nymphenburg. Overall, we were so glad we chose this one five star as part of a long tour of Europe. Was a highlight we'll remember always.

Room Tip: Lack of view in our room didn't matter a bit. Beautiful hotel.

One of the few hotels where the ancient hierarchy in serving still exists. Wonderful to see.
On the negative side, one could see that one will replace this hotel by a new hotel building. The rooms, etc. weren't completely up to date

Dear 533bertv,

Thank you for this great review!

You absolutely realize, what we want to provide: a classical service, friendly but also in a natural way.

We try to keep the style of our hotel more classical than modern and are still updating some things, although the hotel will be demolished in one year. As nowadays many hotels are more modern and sometimes "without soul", our intention is to serve our guests in the old fashioned way.

Perhaps you will return here again. We would be happy to welcoming you once more.

Kindest regards

The Hotel Königshof is just steps away from Central Station, and so it's easy to reach from Munich Airport. The hotel also is close to the Marienplatz square and other noteworthy downtown sites. The vicinity offers a diversity of dining choices, not least including the in-house restaurant, which is very good indeed.

The hotel is located close to the main station, but a bit far from the main shopping and sightseeing. In Front of the hotel there is a tram, metro and train station so it is easy to get around.

The hotel, as described by previous reviewers, is dated, not only the look and feel, but also the technical side. The roms are big, they have of course alll amenities needed. But you can tell the age, the windows are old and you hear the noise from the streets. The heating system is dated, the knob to regulate is really old. It is time they rebuild. But they provide nice details to personalize your stay, which is very nice ! For example nice welcome words etc.

Check in was very friendly and efficient. The staff in general is very friendly, they always try to do their bets to accommodate your wish, the service is definitely a plus here in this Hotel. Also at breakfast staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is really nice, great choice, good quality.

Conclusion is, a bit old and dated hotel but with nice staff with a personal touch , more personal than other luxury hotels in Munich . they might be more modern , more central but have no personal touch. So I can recommend this hotel if you like this personal touch. I like it and am looking forward to experiencing once the rebuilt.

Dear TandTSwitzerland,

Thank you very much for this nice evaluation of our Hotel Königshof.
We are delighted to read that it is the personal and amicable way of our team that really makes the difference for you. We count ourselves very lucky to have great employees who love to work here and do a really good job. I will make sure your words are spread amongst them, as kind compliments like yours are the best imaginable motivation.

If the Stachus seems off centre to you, may I suggest you take a look at the Beyond by Geisel directly at Marienplatz? It has just opened mid-September and sports 19 rooms and suites, some facing the mayors hall some the old Peters church, combining luxury with comfort and tranquility without stiffness but with great personal service.

We hope your travels will bring you back to Munich and to us soon and would love to welcome you again, in the existing Königshof as well as the yet to be built one.

Until then we remain with best regards,

Isabelle Hein (Quality Manager of the Geisel Privathotels) and the team of the Hotel Königshof

This is a wonderful hotel with attention to detail and many pleasantries. Far too much choice for breakfast - what a dilemma! We had a corner suite - very spacious and airy. A calming place to return to after the hectic city.

Room Tip: Corner suites are very comfortable

Dear toronto-beeb,

What a wonderful comment for which we thank you very much.

You are absolutely right: Although our hotel is located in the heart of everything, it is a quite and peaceful place when you are inside.

We also appreciate your laud for our breakfast. And to solve the dilemma of the great choice, perhaps you will try everything next time and save the lunch!

Looking forward to your return, we send you our kindest regards
