I stayed there for a week while on a business trip to Munich. I liked the hotel but there are some tings that can make your stay unpleasant.
About the location - the hotel is not centrally located. In fact it is not far away from the city center but you have to walk at least 20 mins to the Central station or 30 mins to the Karlsplatz. Otherwise you can choose between metro (U1) that is about 5 min away from the hotel or the tram station (20/21) that is about 10 min away from the hotel on Stiglmaierplatz.
Breakfast was adequate and the service quite OK.
Rooms are spacious. I did not manage to deal with the TV set that switched on again almost every time I tried to switched it off. Anyway, every time you get pay tv moves and you have to switch again and again to tv that was very annoying. But the most irritating was the wi-fi. You have to pay 6.50 euro per day if you want to use it in your room, otherwise you have to use it at the lobby. And every time when you want to use the Internet you have to go the the reception and ask for a code that is valid only for an hour. Not very practical unfortunately.
Oh, yes, and there is no shoe polishing machine, what a pity!

The hotel is close (within walking distance) of Old Town and other tourist sites. Quite close to the Lowenbraukeller and only one underground stop away from Munich Railway Station. The hotel restaurant provides a good breakfast.

Rooms are very neat and spacious.
Great location, not far from the beautiful Nymphenburger Castle.
This was the second time for me to stay here and I was very satisfied. For the price they take for a single room you will not find any better that is for sure.

Room Tip: Try to get a single room on the top (6th) floor. Those rooms (or at least the ones on the left side of the elevator) have access to the rooftop, so you will have a nice little balcony.

We had originally booked our stay over Christmas at the Hotel Senator in Munich, however, shortly before our departure for Munich, we received an email that all of the guests were being moved to the Hotel Erzgiesserei so that the Hotel Senator could be closed over the Christmas holiday. It was a very nice surprise and a great value for the money. The rooms were very clean, roomy and functional. The breakfast was plentiful and very good. The staff were most helpful, especially when we needed a restaurant recommendation, they provided directions and even called to be sure that the restaurant would be open on Christmas Eve. They assisted with train schedules, and were always most pleasant. Initially we felt that the hotel was too far from the Marienplatz and the Christmas markets, however, it worked out very nicely and the area around the hotel was very quiet and pleasant. It's about 3 blocks from the closest U bahn stop, which was easily accessible.

Room Tip: Rooms on the side street seem to be quiet.
