We spent five days at the Platzl Hotel as home base for exploring Bavaria and Munich, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Cups of hot Gluhwein in hand, our primary focus was on the Christkindles Markt a two-block walk from the hotel in the City Hall Square. Whether we/you are shopping the Christmas markets, singing along at the Hofbrau Haus (a half-block away) for Octoberfest, or venturing out to Garmisch, Oberammergau, or the castles of King Ludwig II; we would stay at Platzl Hotel again. Super Bonus: the BEST breakfast buffet we have had in Europe. Added bonus: Wonderful pub, bar and restaurant attached to the hotel and a very friendly and helpful staff to make reservations for you. From the veal goulash and spaetzel at the pub, to the Stollen (Christmas cake) and pastries on the breakfast buffet, to the comfortable rooms and baths; you will enjoy your stay at the Platzl Hotel. Two pieces of advice: request a room on the "quiet side" to avoid the late-night revelers from the Hofbrau Haus and Hard Rock Cafe, and enjoy the wonderful restaurants within the immediate area of the hotel.
