“Good location, but rooms are ho-hum, lacking security”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2009

A small group of us stayed here while touring the Christmas Markets. The location was great -- within walking distance of the Marienplatz and some markets (both Christmas and daily) -- and the hotel itself was fairly clean. The lobby is small, but inviting -- as is the breakfast room.

The rooms are dated and plain (rather ho-hum), which is fine for a traveller who won't spend much time in the room. At the same time, if you do leave your room, the hotel leaves much to be desired when it comes to security. First, this is one of those hotels where you are expected to leave your room key at the front desk. This is often standard practice at smaller European hotels/inns. Second, the locks were difficult to use and -- in the case of our first room -- faulty. The lock and door handle litterally fell out of the door onto the floor. We had a difficult time getting the hotel to give us a different room; they eventually moved us to a larger room next door. Third, a couple in our party had their room burglarized. We cannot say if it was hotel staff or an outsider, but their belongings had been "gone thru" and several hundred U.S. dollars were taken. [NOTE: You should NEVER leave valuables in your hotel room. I highly recommend a money belt. Some people even recommend against using hotel-provided safes, in-room or at the front desk.] Fourth, they do have rooms in the basement with ground-level windows. If you do not want one of these rooms, be sure to specify that when you book.

Overall, I was disappointed in this hotel. Should I return to Munich, I would look for lodging elsewhere.

The Tulip is an excellent choice for a short stay in Munich, 5 mins walk from the Metro, 40 mins on the train from the airport.
Early check in was fine and the rooms, although slightly dated were very clean. The bed was comfortable and gave an excellent night's sleep.
The only downside was the breakfast room is slightly too small and a bit chaotic, there only seemed to be one person serving so it at times seemed to be a case of clear your own table. But that doesn't take away from the pleasant stay at the Tulip.

We booked this hotel as part of a motorbike tour. It was easy enough to find, the parking for the motorbike was excellent and the location (very near to the Marienplatz) was excellent. That was about it though. The room was clean (we are in Germany after all) but small. The lack of air conditioning would have been compensated for by the big windows but the amount of rebuilding going on at the hotel put paid to that. Builders starting up at 7:00am was not great. The noise of demolition did little to enhance the experience of staying here.
Breakfast was a disappointment. Limited amounts of a very poor choice. We chose this place partly on the basis of its claims for its breakfasts. Added to this the lack of coffee/tea making in the rooms and no facility for a drink elsewhere (no soft drinks machine for example) made this a pretty sterile place to be. Ah well.

I stayed at the Concorde for two nights last month, when I went to Munich to hear some operas. I chose this hotel because of its proximity to the opera house (Bayerische Staatsoper, Nationaltheater), which is less than ten minutes walk from the hotel. Indeed, the Concorde is excellently located. From the airport, you should take an S-Bahn train (S8) to Isartor station (about 40 minutes' ride), from where you can easily walk to the hotel. (But make sure you leave the station by the exit marked as "Thomas-Wimmer-Ring-Tal".) It is also easy to get to other tourist spots, including Marienplatz, either on foot or by S-Bahn.

My room was small and simple, but it was quiet, clean and perfectly adequate. Likewise with breakfast--nothing special but quite sufficient for me. The staff were generally efficient. My only quibble is that on the day I was to leave, a cleaner came into my room at 9 am, when I was still in bed. Otherwise, I can recommend the Concorde to those who need simple but adequate accommodation in central Munich.

about two stone throws from the Hofbrauhaus - but on the quiet side by the wimmer ring in a cul-de-sac : easy to walk everywhere AND the Hotel is very freindly, effic ient, and very clean

we stayed their twice and each time the staff couldnt have been more helpful

okay they DONT do hot eggs and bacon at brreakfast but Heck - they serve a large range of rolls, breads, pumpernikcle, cheese , hams, fruit juices, toaster, mueslis and fruint as well great coffee and tea

Highly reccomended it if you like a quiet nights sleep after a noisy evening carousing the beer halls

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights during the second week of December 2007. We traveled to Munich to see the Christmas markets.

The hotel is located a very short walk from Isator S-bahn station which is on the same line (S8) as the airport. The hotel is also near the Marienplatz station. Its on a quiet street and is approx 2 or 3 minutes walk to the old center of Munich, Marienplatz.

One of the best points about this hotel is its location, very central. We found it quiet and the rooms very clean. I have to agree with a previous reviewer who was disappointed with no safe in the room - I found this an inconvenience also. Breakfast was sufficient and did the job. The hotel had no bar (but the staff will serve drinks). However, its much better to walk about 1 minute from the hotel to one of the many bars located in the area.

The room was small , but we had no problem with this. The bathroom was also small (a bit too small) - but we were staying for 2 days, so all this was very bearable.

I would certainly return to this hotel, it was very conveniently located very comfortable and perfect for short stays.

We stayed here for the weekend whilst attending the Christmas Market. The hotel is located about 300metres from Isartor Sbahn station and about 300 metres from Marienplatz. 40 minutes from the airport by S bahn and cost 8.80 euros to get there without changing lines.

The street is quiet with no through traffic. The hotel is small but well maintained with friendly and helpful staff., The rooms are very very compact but again are in good order, well maintained and extremely clean. If I was very picky, I was sorry to see no room safe and no tea/coffee facilities in the room.

There is no formal bar in the hotel but the staff will always serve you drinks in the reception area. But hey! the near by bars and brauhaus are wrold famous why compete.

Breakfast was limited but again did the job.

Would we stay there again. Yes!
Would you recommend it? Yes as long as you did not want larger hotel facilities.
