“Great Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

If you are traveling by train this hotel is almost perfect for you because it is directly across from the train station. From the hotel is is a short walk to Marienplatz. The front desk was very helpful friendly and accommodating. Our room was large and was facing the courtyard and since there is no air conditioning we had to have the windows open but it was very quiet. The breakfast was excellent with almost everything you might ask for and many more that you would not.

Room Tip: If you are there during the warmer months request a room facing the courtyard - if you have to open...

Always recommend this Hotel when friends are traveling overseas. We always stay at the hotel. It is across the Main Train station in Munich. A 10 minute walk to Marienplatz. Also good location if you go to the Oktoberfest . The breakfast is great. Lots of choices. The Italian restaurant next door is brilliant, love the food and atmosphere. It suits us as we travel a lot by train through Europe.

This hotel is a few steps from the train station and only a 7 minute walk to the Marienplatz. Very good location. The staff is very nice and helpful. Very good service overall.

Unfortunately, the accommodations don't match the two positives of location and service. Your choice of rooms is difficult if you require quiet. You can have a room directly above a bar (as we did our first night), across from a youth hostel (heard from another guest that it was very loud), or above the kitchen (as we did our second night). There is no air conditioning, so windows must be open when it's hot. Our 11 year old got to watch a very loud drunk get arrested, cuffed, etc. all while screaming at the top of his lungs at 2am.

If you are a good sleeper, you should stay here. If you have children or need quiet, do not!

Room Tip: Best room would be over the courtyard / kitchen.

I cannot fault this hotel for its location, right beside the Haptbahnof where our tour operator Radius worked from. Rooms are cleaned every day, bathroom perfect, wifi throughout the building, very friendly and helpful staff and a beautiful Italian restaurant joined to it where we ate 4/5 nights.

The only major issue we had was the lack of air con. With temperatures hitting 30 degrees it was incredibly uncomfortable in the rooms. Whilst the rooms do have two huge windows which can be opened fully, it opened onto the street where many hotels/hostels were located. This caused some serious noise issues at night with backpackers out front smoking/drinking/shouting causing us a very restless sleep.

We never asked for a fan as we quite simply assumed it would have been in our room if one were available. We also never asked to change rooms as we were most often out of the hotel on day tours and just wanted to sleep when we got back. Looking at another reviewers suggestion, definitely ensure you get a courtyard facing room. Otherwise it is a hot, restless sleep or a indefinite, noisy sleep.

The restaurant is amazing and great quality of food. We got the pasta to share which cost 14euro allowing us two servings of pasta each. The Ayinger beer is lovely. A normal pint costs approx E3.50, whereas the huge litre costs E8.50. Desserts are fantastic and again are huge servings for the price. Service can be hit and miss, you do need to attract the waiters attention if you want something or indeed to just pay the bill. From my experience, this is the German way, not like in Ireland where the waiter will check on you every 20mins.

The only fault to this hotel is its air con, everything else was perfect. Breakfast was a treat, so much to choose from and again, very friendly staff. A great selection of cereals, breads, meats, cheese, spreads, fruit, yoghurt, eggs, sausages.......you cannot fault the food. For those from Ireland, do not expect Denny's rashers/sausages. It's mostly frankfurters and incredibly salty rasher common to the european continent breakfasts.

Room Tip: Get a room that does not face the street!!!!!!

Family of 3 (myself, wife and teen-aged son) stayed here August 6-9 (3 nights), 2013. It's true that this hotel has no air condition. When we checked out, the elevator did not work either. Still, the hotel is very nice and I would recommend it. The temperature was as high as 90 degrees F (22 degrees C), but much cooler at night. With a fan provided by the hotel, the temperature was quite manageable in the room. We slept with the windows open and needed covers before waking up in the morning! The hotel is located next door to the train station. Just walk out of the train station at platform 11, take the underground stairs which takes you to the opposite side of the street, and walk about 10 yards. The hotel will be on the right, clearly marked. Beds were comfortable and clean. Bathroom a bit small, but well equipped. Free wi-fi. We had a triple room that faced a courtyard. It was peaceful without any problems at night (despite the hotel being across the street from a youth hostel). Friendly staff which helped us find restaurants and nearby attractions. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, fruit drinks, tea, coffee, cereals, breads and other breakfast fare. We had the same waiter as an earlier reviewer of this hotel. He was from Barcelona and welcomed us each morning. And yes, I would stay here again. If it's hot, ask for a fan! Open the windows and have a fan blowing in the air! It worked for us. The location can't be beat.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the courtyard. We never heard a sound all night! Our room was on the second...

This hotel is an excellent value, has great service, and is very conveniently located.

It is just across the street from the main train station in Munich, making it very easy to get to and from the airport on the S-Bahn. The station is also the major U-Bahn (metro) hub. Also just a few blocks from the Old Town and many interesting sights.

We arrived quiet early in the morning from the airport. Naturally, our room was not yet ready, but we were able to keep our luggage (what arrived with us, anyway) behind the desk while we enjoyed a very large breakfast buffet.

Our room was very comfortable. Being mid-October, AC was not needed, but even with the windows open, it was very quiet in the room.

Our reservation was for only the one night, but they were able to accomodate us for a second night, while waiting for our missing piece of luggage. It came while we were out for the day, and the staff took it to our room.

I would most definitely stay here again.

My wife first complained about the lack of air conditioning, and Europe in the summer is in need of air conditioning; however, the staff of the hotel is first-rate. Our waiter from Barcelona was a welcomed hospitality every morning. Unlike the usual French fare with cold cuts, this breakfast featured soft-boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon. The proximity of the hotel to the main station was extremely useful for joining the Radius Tours on the other side of the station. The convenience of being just across the street was helpful since we were constantly catching the train to Fussen, Salzburg, and Nuremburg. If you can handle teh lack of a/c this is a great hotel and affordable.
