We lived in the apartment hotel for 3 nights, and found our stay relaxing. We wanted a kitchenette, so we could prepare something for ourselves - and this place seemed perfect! Additionally, they had already set up a kids bed for our 2 year old.

The electric oven was a bit slow in heating, but then we used the microwave more often. Since the weather was pretty warm, we requested for a fan and the reception gladly offered us one. The cleaning was also done daily and there's a coffee-to-go available for free on the way out in the morning. It has a Tengelman store right next to it which takes care of any supplies you may want (pizza, ice-cream, breads etc.). The hotel is located about 7-8 mins walking distance from the Gern U-bahn station, which is about 6 mins travel time from the Hauptbahnhof on U1. The neighbourhood is typically residential and quiet, and traffic is minimal - so safe for kids. Daily 60 min free internet takes care of your basic email, news & weather checks.

Overall a pleasant stay, worth recommending to other people!

Hotel is good quite big. Rooms are equipped with mini kitchen. You will find cookign utensils, four burner gas, microwave oven, fridge. Also a three door closet with a safe.

Hotel is located close to Metro station Gern. Also has a biggest shopping mall of Bavaria just a station away. Also has a Tangelmann departmental store at its entrance. There are good restaurant at hotels entrance which is opened nearly all the time and you get good food.

Internet (WiFi) is given free for 30 mins each day (24 hrs). If you do not carry Laptop no problem one is always located at hotel reception for public usage.

Room Tip: Want bigger room and balcony opt for smoking room

if you are in search of clean, affordable apartment style accommodation close to Munich's city center this one is for you. I stayed at this hotel for 2 1/2 weeks and loved the fact I could prepare my own meals in the galley style kitchenette or dine out if I wanted to. The supermarket around the corner and two choices of public transportation (tram or subway) within 5 minutes walking distance are an added bonus. Munich's "Olympia Park" is just across, the historic ' Taxis Beer Garden' a 5 minute stroll away. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Maisonettes in the main building are the nicest.

I agree with the review posted a while ago ..." The condition of the room is depressing - dingy worn out furnishings, bad lighting, rooms and hallways that wreak of cigarette smoke"
I would also add: No AC, rooms facing the front as hot as a sauna, overflowing drain in the bathroom, mold smell in bathroom.
3 stars just for Germany standarts... in North America would be a highway motel.
Locatin okay, on a quiet area ( we had a car, so not being in the center was not a problem) free parking in the streets around, no problem.
Free 1 hr internet + 2 euros for extra time was very reasonable
free mini bar itens was a nice touch

If you are searching for a clean hotel, really cheap, closest to the center (5 minutes to the metro station + 5 minutes of metro to be in the marienplatz) with the opportunity to cook something in your room as well, you must get to Derag Hotel Karl Theodor.
Placed in a really quiet district, at 10 minutes by feet from the Nymphenburg residence, derag Hotel can provide all the basic services a visitor can ask for at a really cheap price.
Also a gym is available as well as a restaurant insight the hotel. Especially during the winter it`s a fantastic environment: the district becomes white as the snow. The typical bavarian house smell of sausice and christmas sweet...

Sorry to disagree with the other reviews, but there is not much to recommend this hotel. On the good side the hotel staff seems friendly, but on the bad side the internet connection is painfully slow and pretty expensive given that it barely works. The condition of the room is depressing - dingy worn out furnishings, bad lighting, rooms and hallways that wreak of cigarette smoke. The location is relatively far from stores and restaurants - about a 30 minute trip to Marienplatz and the main train station which includes a 10 minute walk to the uBahn. The most appalling part concerns the adjoining restaurant. I stayed there for business and came back to the hotel after 8 PM a couple of nights, after the store had closed, so ate at the Italian restaurant that adjoins the hotel. The food is ok but I was appalled by one of the staff who actually made cracks in bad English about my being fat and "XXL" like all Americans. Seriously. I ate there twice and the first night there was a comment about how pasta is fattening. I wasn't sure that he knew what he was saying but the next time I went in it was made very clear. Definitely avoid this hotel and restaurant.

This hotel was great. It was more like an apartment as it was very larger, had a “living room” and had a fridge and stove. There is a grocery store right outside of the hotel which is great for getting breakfast food. Our room faced a nice courtyard and was very quiet (except New Year’s Eve night) It is easily connected to the center of Munich in about 10-20 minutes with the U1 Subway stop at Gern (about 5 block walk and 4 stops from the train station) and a Tram 20 & 21 stop at Olympic West tram stop (about 3 blocks). For about $60 a night it is a great value. I would definitely stay here again.
