I agree with the review posted a while ago ..." The condition of the room is depressing - dingy worn out furnishings, bad lighting, rooms and hallways that wreak of cigarette smoke"
I would also add: No AC, rooms facing the front as hot as a sauna, overflowing drain in the bathroom, mold smell in bathroom.
3 stars just for Germany standarts... in North America would be a highway motel.
Locatin okay, on a quiet area ( we had a car, so not being in the center was not a problem) free parking in the streets around, no problem.
Free 1 hr internet + 2 euros for extra time was very reasonable
free mini bar itens was a nice touch

If you are searching for a clean hotel, really cheap, closest to the center (5 minutes to the metro station + 5 minutes of metro to be in the marienplatz) with the opportunity to cook something in your room as well, you must get to Derag Hotel Karl Theodor.
Placed in a really quiet district, at 10 minutes by feet from the Nymphenburg residence, derag Hotel can provide all the basic services a visitor can ask for at a really cheap price.
Also a gym is available as well as a restaurant insight the hotel. Especially during the winter it`s a fantastic environment: the district becomes white as the snow. The typical bavarian house smell of sausice and christmas sweet...

Sorry to disagree with the other reviews, but there is not much to recommend this hotel. On the good side the hotel staff seems friendly, but on the bad side the internet connection is painfully slow and pretty expensive given that it barely works. The condition of the room is depressing - dingy worn out furnishings, bad lighting, rooms and hallways that wreak of cigarette smoke. The location is relatively far from stores and restaurants - about a 30 minute trip to Marienplatz and the main train station which includes a 10 minute walk to the uBahn. The most appalling part concerns the adjoining restaurant. I stayed there for business and came back to the hotel after 8 PM a couple of nights, after the store had closed, so ate at the Italian restaurant that adjoins the hotel. The food is ok but I was appalled by one of the staff who actually made cracks in bad English about my being fat and "XXL" like all Americans. Seriously. I ate there twice and the first night there was a comment about how pasta is fattening. I wasn't sure that he knew what he was saying but the next time I went in it was made very clear. Definitely avoid this hotel and restaurant.

This hotel was great. It was more like an apartment as it was very larger, had a “living room” and had a fridge and stove. There is a grocery store right outside of the hotel which is great for getting breakfast food. Our room faced a nice courtyard and was very quiet (except New Year’s Eve night) It is easily connected to the center of Munich in about 10-20 minutes with the U1 Subway stop at Gern (about 5 block walk and 4 stops from the train station) and a Tram 20 & 21 stop at Olympic West tram stop (about 3 blocks). For about $60 a night it is a great value. I would definitely stay here again.

We arrived in Munich via a train from Passau, Germany (end of river cruise) and all hotels downtown were filled due to Christmas Market visitors. This hotel filled the bill as it was just 3 ubahn (subway) stops from downtown. It was in a very nice, upscale location and was very quiet for sleeping. There is a grocery store right outside the lobby making it convenient to pick up items.

It was as expected, confortable, relax place. 2 flors, confortable. I would recomended this living hotel, ( I was in living hotel part), because it is not a big hotel, ity is just comfortable and relaxing hotel, allocated in a point near of a (gern metro station), 4 station from city venter of Munich.

I booked this hotel for 2 days in Munich. My sole purpose was to see the BMW Museum, having already "done" the "touristy thing" in Munich proper years ago. Therefore, I was looking for something in the Olympic Park area. In this regard, the location was pretty good -- an 8 minute walk to the subway, and a 10 minute ride to the Olympic Park (with just one transfer). It would be easy enough, therefore, to get to the Main Train Station to/from here.

The entrance way is a bit odd in that there are about 4 concrete stairs and no ramp -- not convenient if, like me, you have heavy rolling luggage. Minor point, but an annoying quirk.

Staff was very friendly and the young front desk clerk was making such a good effort at using his English.

The grocery store connected to the main level of the hotel made staying there extremely convenient as your room comes equipped with a microwave, mini fridge, sink and stove. It does not stay open very late, though -- I think it closed at around 7 pm? Can't recall exactly.

The rooms were simple but clean. Mine smelled a bit like smoke, but I am hypersensitive in that regard. The shower's drain was clogged and so I was standing in ankle-deep water when showering.

It was quiet, as it is nestled in a leafy, residential area. Definitely not the place to stay if you're looking to party and want night life right outside your doorstep.

You receive only one hour of free wireless internet per day -- the rest you pay for (nice that there is even anything free at all), but be aware.

All in all, a good choice for my purpose. I'd recommend it.
