“Nice hotel at Quiet Neibourhood”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2013

Hotel is lodated in a recsidential area, subtrain station at about 600 meters from the hotel.good for sunny days. we stayed in a small(in my opinion two small for a couple), however very clean and nicely decorated. Upon checkin we were not informed that the telephones in our floor are not working. Our original request was for a room on the fourth floor, but upon checkin we found the room, although very clean, suffering from unpleasant smells.Good breakfeast both selection and quality. The hotel restaurnt is blessed by a very beautiful courtyard-great to have your breakfeast there.

My wife and I stayed over at the Hotel Bavaria for 2 nights. We found the hotel to be great and the staff to be friendly and very helpful. The hotel is about a 30 minute walk from the old town which is the main tourist attraction area, alternatively the subway is about a 5 minute walk.

If you are going for the Oktoberfest, the location is ideal as the venue is 5 minutes away.

We enjoyed our stay and can recommend it.

We stayed here for three nights on our city break to Munich, having chosen the hotel based on other Trip Advisor reviews.

The hotel is modern, exceptionally clean and has classy design features in the lobby and restaurant. The location of Hotel Bavaria is not near the city-centre but if you don't mind travelling by underground, it's easily accessible. Theresenweise station was just a 5 minute walk away and that was how we got around. We got a train from the airport (about a 30 min trip), followed by the underground. If you are looking for a hotel near to the Oktoberfest site, you probably couldn't get any closer if you tried! The site is about a two-minute walk.

In the surrounding areas of the hotel, it's mainly residential but there are a few shops and restaurants. Turn left out of the hotel doors and walk for about 5 minutes and you'll come to a big supermarket on the right. Continue past it for about another couple of minutes and you'll come to Mayer's Bar and Restaurant on the left - a fantastic place to eat if you don't fancy trekking out for food. I'd recommend that anyone staying here tries this restaurant.

The hotel breakfast was fantastic, offering a wide range of options (breads, meats, cheeses, fruit, cereals, juices, cooked eggs, bacon and sausage etc.). The hotel bar was also really lovely, feeling like a stand-alone bar, rather than just an add-on (as many hotel bars do). You can also eat breakfast outside on the small, but absolutely lovely, decked terrace. I really enjoyed the peace and fresh air when sitting outside to eat.

In terms of our room, this is where a star is lost. It was lovely, spacious and again, very clean. However, the bathroom sanitaryware was a little unpredictable - our toilet wouldn't always flush (this was fixed once by the hotel staff but when it continued to happen, we eventually figured out that there was a knack to flushing!), the sink decided not to drain one night (again, a little coaxing eventually sorted it) and there was occasionally a smell of drains that meant we had to keep the bathroom door shut one night.

This leads to me to the only real failure of the hotel (and I know that other people have mentioned this in previous reviews): the lack of air-con. When we visited, it was extremely hot and the first night, we hadn't yet realised that our window could fully open, like a door, rather than just tilt. As we were on the fourth floor, we'd assumed it wouldn't fully open (parents might want to keep an eye out for this - there is, of course, a safety guard but it struck me as perhaps a little inadequate for children). We were so hot that neither of us slept well at all.

Once we'd sorted the door out, we thought we were onto a winner but it appears that on a Monday, the nearby breweries start running. Overnight, the most appalling, incredibly strong smell of yeast came pouring into the room. It was so strong that it woke us both up and then kept us awake. Closing the window wasn't an option! Obviously, the hotel can't help the smell from outside but if air-con had been installed, this wouldn't have been a problem. I am surprised that given the quality of the hotel's design, they haven't yet invested in air-con, something that I don't see as a luxury in a hotel - more of a necessity.

Having mentioned the minor negatives, I must say that the staff were wonderful. They were always smiley and helpful and made us feel at home. When we did mention the toilet issue, they 'fixed' it promptly and I'm sure that if we had have mentioned it again, they would have done the same.

Overall, we were very happy with this hotel and I would choose to stay there again (perhaps less willingly in hot weather). Hotel Bavaria has a lot going for it and, if there had been air-con, it probably would have got 5 stars.

I know that we had this summer some very hot days and therefore an AC was missed.
Thats why we like to make fans available.
Otherwise we are very happy about these really great summer in town.
To date, we can use our breakfast terrace and look forward to visiting the beer garden.

My wife and I stayed four nights in Hotel Bavaria in the Exclusive room. The room was great from every aspect - It was very clean, spacious, with a nice view outside and a very nice shower room. The staff of the hotel are super nice and very helpful. The breakfast buffet was outstanding with a wide variety of foods including bacon, eggs, selection of cold meats and cheese, fresh fruits, great breads, croissants, cold and warm drinks (very good coffee) and much more. You can eat the breakfast inside or outside in a nice patio. Inside the hotel there is a small and very nice bar. The location of the hotel is very good, just in a five minutes walk from the Theresienwiese U station.
Our stay at Hotel Bavaria was great and we will definitely stay there again when we are back in Munich.

The staff here really makes this hotel an excellent choice. They are friendly, helpful with navigating the city, good English speakers, and ready with local tips. My husband was greeted with coffee and "an American newspaper" as soon as we entered the breakfast room every morning. We were also spoiled by a delicious breakfast with a wide array of pastries, meats, cheeses, and much, much more. It is in a quiet neighborhood with close access to the trains. It has nice rooms and a bar area with lovely ambience. Would stay here again!

Hotel Bavaria in the west-end of Munich is ideal for several nights stay. Roughly 2km from the central train station makes the hotel conveniently located. The hotel is very clean and my room had a sizable balcony with a table and two chairs. The décor is modern and the photographs in the halls and stairwell are beautiful. The breakfast is both full and delicious. The staff is very accommodating and made me feel welcomed. Setting up excursions is a breeze and the staff is extremely knowledgeable about the city and culture. The staff is well versed in many languages and was more than willing to help me with my German, when I asked. The weather was ideal so the lack of air conditioning was not a problem. I would certainly stay there again. By the way, I made the mistake of leaving my home and car keys at one of the tables after finishing breakfast; the staff promptly located me and returned them to me. This act truly made my day. Thanks Hotel Bavaria..!

From the moment we arrived until our departure we were really impressed by the Hotel Bavaria. The professional and very friendly staff; the quality of food and drink; the cleanliness; the decor - all went to make our first stay in Munich a real pleasure. The hotel's location is good: a short stroll to the underground station connects you easily and cheaply to anywhere in the city and there are good restaurants and bars nearby. The hotel team were happy to help with recommendations, bookings, ticket sales and much else.

There's only one issue we had during our stay, and that had to do with parking. The hotel has very limited parking on site but, in an effort to offer a good solution, has negotiated lower rates with the nearby multi storey car park. That is commendable, however they are let down badly by the operators of the car park. It's unclean and unsafe.

It's clear that everyone at the Hotel Bavaria works really hard to make sure their high standards are maintained. It's clear too that they take justifiable pride in their hotel. We wouldn't hesitate to return - but next time we'd avoid taking a car.

Dear Sir´s,

many thanks for your excellent comment. It helps us to improve our Service.
So we are informed about some problems in the public car park nearby and spoke already with the owner. So what...the parking Situation in Munich remains difficult .
For your next stay please reserve a car park in our Hotel Garage.
Now we are in anticipation of the Oktoberfest.
