“Good location, much better than a hotel room”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2013

This isn't really an 'apartment' hotel, as the kitchenette is tiny, and it is all in one room. However, everything is new, it is clean, the staff are friendly, breakfast is free, it is in a great location, and it is much bigger than an ordinary hotel room. Plus they give you 2 free beers and 2 free waters each day.
We were given a room up on the 6th and top floor, which has an angled ceiling because of the roof. I presume this makes the room bigger than others, but I still managed to hit my head once!
The oil beds were very good, but unfortunately my side didn't work properly. Staff were very obliging, and when they were unable to fix it, offered to change us to another room. We had already unpacked everything, so we stayed, and the bed was fixed the next day.
We had a late evening flight, and we were able to wait a few hours in the breakfast room, where we could have coffee or water.
Breakfast was okay- hey it was free, so you can't complain! One tip - go early, because there are only about 10 tables, and we saw people queuing up one morning when we were going out.

I chose the Derag Campo dei Fiori for 1 week stay in Munich. I like apartment hotels and it was billed as such. I suppose it is depending on what you are expecting but the rooms are small and the design of the so called apartment details like kitchen, table, work desk is a minimalist exercise. For instance the kitchen is a single heat element and a sink beside it in the hallway. I ended up keeping a bit of fruit in the fridge and ate out every day, not my plan. Overall very limited space fro what I would expect as an apartment hotel.

The rooms are not air conditioned and they get quite stuffy. Yes, you can open the window but if you have a room like me facing the street cafes this is a non option as it gets quite noisy (spring had just sprung in Munich so everybody was out drinking beer till late in the night). Yes, I could join but not necessarily when you have to work the next morning

Beds are comfortable and the included breakfast is quite good. Room cleaning is also good

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone passing by or staying in Munich.
I booked it without knowing much about it and it was a very good surprise.

The design of the hotel is very nice, modern but still very homely and welcoming. I particularly loved the rooms. Lots of space, very pleasant.
The staff was very helpful despite my poor German. They spoke English.

The breakfast in the morning was very enjoyable.

Internet wasn't easy to get to work (the procedure to get onto the Wifi is not simple). Be mindful of that. No room service.

Room Tip: All the rooms are very good, but the higher up, the better I guess. There are restaurants on the opp...

The location next to the Viktualienmarkt is brilliant. The rooms are ultra modern, clean and quiet.
Positive: Rooms, shower with integrated steam room, free wifi and drinks, location and silence
Not so positive: breakfast was bland (industrial bread in Germany?, no fresh orange juice and a breakfast room with 12 tables is too small), reception is one person only which leads to a huge delay at times when 10 people need to check out, especially when the receptionist insist on folding the bills and putting them into envelopes, the room door doesn't close if you don't pull or push it hard (came back to what was an unlocked door with my belongings in the room)
Shame about the delays and the room door but overall a good hotel to stay in.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2012

This was the 3rd of 3 cities that my wife and I stayed in on our honeymoon in December. I had read quite a few reviews before booking the hotels we stayed at, so was hoping that this would meet expectations. When we first arrived, we thought the hotel was very swish and modern and was excited about our stay, however, we were very let down on our first night. We arrived in our room, which was clean, however, there were a few issues we had. First, we should have had 2 bottles of water in the fridge, and when I complained, I was told there was none and they would be there the next day. Next, the steam bath, that is provided with the shower was not working and was told this was broken. Lastly, the internet and services that are provided was not working, with the staff explaining that this would be fixed the next day. There wasn't much that could be done to resolve the issues we reported, but I am glad to say that the next 2 days we had water in the fridge and the internet\services issue was resolved. We did request a free upgrade prior to the trip, but this was declined, but we did receive complimentary breakfast. Other than that, the hotel was clean, staff were friendly and the rooms, were very modern using new technology. Something I would say about this hotel is the location. If you want a base to stay when visiting Munich, this is a great hotel to stay at as is close to everything. The only taxi we used in Munich was from the train station to the hotel, apart from that, everything we needed or wanted to see was in walking distance from the hotel. Based on the location, I would stay here again.

We really enjoyed the great modern room with lots of technology, water beds and such. Nice touch to have free water and beers each day as well as coffees and breakfast. When we asked if anywhere would be open for a meal on Christmas Day we were told "I don't know" and the receptionist made no effort to find out or suggest possibilities. Great to have laundry facility with free detergent :)
