this was a very nice stay, just in the center of munich, 5 minutes walk to marienplatz, and 10 to Maximillian strasse (gucci, dolce & gabana &etc)
rooms rather small, but when i chose this hotel i wanted the cental one, except this one there was a mandarin oriental, but it costed 400 euros per night.
be carefool, do not open the windows if the light is on, because the insects can fly in.
there is a steakhouse Asado & Maredo just opposite in 2min.
they have a small business center, just for 3 euros per hour.

We stayed 3 nights at the Torbrau, with 3 young kids. We enjoyed very much everything, the people (receptionists, breakfast staff, room keepers, etc) all very kind and efficient, the place so central, the breakfast buffet so enjoyable, the rooms very large and clean, the car parking, etc etc. Everything was perfect. Also the price!

Comfortable in July Heat - great air conditioning (Europe isn't really known for good AC)
Great location
Good breakfast
Difficulty with luggage - no help to rooms
The KING bed is actually 2 separates next to each other to allow separate incline... odd for couple on Honeymoon ;(
Would stay again only due to PRICE

We stayed at the Hotel Torbreau for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is by no means luxurious, and the decor is in some respects a bit plain, although very well maintained. That said, the genuinely friendly and helpful staff was a real winner. The buffet breakfast is sumptuous, delicious and served in a very pretty dining room. The hotel is very conveniently located, near the old town and good restaurants. One review I read spoke of noise at night, so we requested a quiet room. It could not have been quieter, and we had a nice view over the rooftops of Munich. I would certainly recommend it.

After traveling from Switzerland through Germany we finally arrived at the Hotel Torbrau for the final 5 days of our vacation. Munich was our favorite city visited and the Hotel Torbrau was the cherry on the cake. The hotel was centrally located in the old part of Munich near shopping and restaurants. Walking a block from hotel we found ourselves in the market area next to the Marienplatz. The rooms were modest in size but modern and spotlessly clean. The breakfast served was superb. Baked goods were constantly replenished with fresh baked
warm rolls from the adjacent kitchen. The best feature of the hotel was the quality of the staff. They were the most friendly, interested and helpful of any hotel we visited. They seemed genuinely concerned about our enjoyment. I will revisit Munich and would highly recommend the Hotel Tobrau.

This is an underrated hotel at 14. Great location. Very nice rooms. Service that outdid every other hotel we've stayed at in Europe over the last two trips, eight hotels in all. The breakfast was simply incredible. I'd swear they had four people working the breakfast in this small hotel vs one at most hotels. They kept refreshing an endless buffet that was spectacularly presented. Table service for coffee and hot chocalate for the kids. Omelettes and eggs by order were included. We were late and they never rushed us and were still refreshing the food for maybe five families after closing time. We had to leave at 5:00 AM for the airport and they all but insisted on making us to go boxes for the airport. Interesting note is that the family suites have the minibar included at no charge. Wish I knew that earlier. Ordered four drinks at their bar and after paying exhorbitant prices across Europe was almost floored when it was under $15.
