“Quite elegant hotel with good location.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2014

I liked best the garden where we had breakfast. The breakfast itself was very good (although 15 eur/pers seemed expensive at first sight, but in the end was worthed). The sleep quality was very good (quiet and cozy bed). The location is OK, not in the heart of the city but close enough and with underground station nearby. It was clean and the storage space was decent.
On the minus side, room was small and bathroom really tiny. I understand Munich is very expensive when it comes to accomodation and this hotel is not an exception, we paid here more than any other place in Europe and got a tiny room with no breakfast included. No slippers and very modest amenities in the bathroom.

Room Tip: For a quiet room you better ask for a room with view in the back. There is a tram line in the front...

nice older, but charming hotel in a quiet location near the river and Deutschland Museum. We rented a small room on the second floor for $150e, it was clean and comfortable. The bathroom is a phone-booth (1 at a time), but spotless. Bed and bedding was comfortable, with down pillows and comforters. Room had small fridge, but no kettle. Breakfast was served in the basement (included, but optional) and was typical continental style. Coffee was OK. Lady making coffee seemed unhappy but polite.

Splendid Dollman was a great experience - a quiet corner in the heart of Munich. An old world hotel with charm and beauty. The room was beautiful. The lady at the reception got us another room since our room was not ready yet and we had arrived earlier than expected. They recommended us great local joints, away from touristy spots... I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel. Plus it is very close to the public transport system, so moving around the city was easy. Definitely recommend this place...

Room Tip: ask for a room with good light... facing the street...

Its a very adorable hotel in the center of Munich (kinda). Its around 10-15 mins walk to the city center but you can also take the metro. However be careful to chose the right exit/entrance because one is very close and the other is so far away (we got lost twice). rooms are tiny but very good designs that feels like home. Not a very modern hotel but its sufficient. single beds are very narrow so be careful.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony, they are adorable and roomy although not very strong

I stayed in this Hotel during Oktoberfest in late September. It is not too far from Hofbräuhaus, you can get there on foot. It is also not that far from the Metro and you can get easy access to teh Oktoberfest area, tents, etc. The staff was very friendly and accomodating when I was there. The rooms were a little small but they had all the amenities you would need. The location is good and the rooms are comfortable and clean.

pleasant hotel with reasonable service and room size,
no porters to help with luggage while it is not so easily reached to the elevator, need to go up about 10 large stairs, so no problem if you travel light, think twice if you got heavy duty luggage.

breakfast is in the basement, which is tastefully designed, however all see to be done by one person, so be patient, breakfast quite basic and not exceeding expectation.

the lounge area designed as a library ,very cozy and pleasant to sit and enjoy a drink or a book.

the prices of the hotels considering the services, room space, location, is on the high side, they consider themselves as Boutique hotel but provide you a service of 3, bit overpriced.

Room Tip: ask for room NOT facing the street - no much acoustic isolation in the rooms.

On our honeymoon in Munich for 6 days, we booked a room at the Splendid. The first reason was its location, 100m from Maximilian strasse, which connects the Bavarian Parliament to the center of the city, a very posh street with exclusive shops (unless you can pay 500€ for a purse, don't go shopping there). Although we had mentioned twice that we were honeymooners, we did see any gesture from the hotel side about it, nor did they reply to my email regarding this!
Anyhow, the hotel is 10minutes away from the city center. It's staff is very friendly and try to do their best to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We especially liked the pleasant attitude of Mathias, if I remember his name correctly, who was always super friendly.
If only they (staff), were a bit more knowledgable as to more details about what is going on in the city, they would make it to the top reception team in Munich! I would expect that they would know that on New Year's Eve, there are fireworks all around the city, even on the hotels front door! But that does not ruin the general impression of the service.
The breakfast was very good, with fresh fruit every day, and extra care from the lady serving there.
We did find it a bit pricey though, so on a couple of days, had to refrain from it, walking into the city and trying out various alternatives.
Bed mattresses were too soft for me btw, so that I needed an extra stretch in the mornings.
TV channels could include some non German ones.

Room Tip: Go for the deluxe rooms, they are worth the extra €, giving more space and better view. Try the bre...
