5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2014

Spent 2 nights in Dec 2013
2nd time that I stayed here in Munich and once again they didn't disappointment.
The staff were friendly and amazing. Due to my luggage going missing the staff helped and translated with the airline and couriers.... they went the extra mile. especially young Miley Cyrus
They kindly upgraded me to roof top room with a view.
The room was clean and bed was comfortable.
The location is handle to Christmas Markets and Train Stations
Great place to stay and I will be back here again....

It is a known fact that IBIS have one standard wherever they are. The rooms are not massive but acceptible. This hotel goes even below the standard IBIS room size. There is absolutely no space for two people to move around in a double room its either one or the other. I will definetly not stay in this hotel again and frankly speaking now even re-consider whether to stay at any IBIS elsewhere since it is not true that staying at one means it will be the same experience anywhere.

Dear Ibis guest lorryface from Malta,

Thank you very much for your valuable comments regarding your stay in our Hotel Ibis Muenchen City and for giving me the chance to answer to you personally.

The Ibis quality promise guarantees that you find the same high quality Ibis standard everywhere. The room decor is basically identical, the rooms are air-conditioned, and you have free WiFi everywhere and get drinks and snacks 24 hours a day. In Germany is also, our breakfast menu standardized. Nationwide a rich buffet with a cheese and meat selection cereals , boiled eggs and scrambled eggs , dairy products, great bread - and rolls, croissants, pastries, jam, honey, butter, fresh fruit, juices, mineral water offer and coffee specialties are offered for € 10,00.

Furthermore, the comfort of our new Europe-wide "Sweet Bed" is available at your disposal.
Our experts have thought a lot about your comfort, and put the following “ingredients” for our "Sweet Bed" together.
Entirely designed, tested and perfected by our Innovation Department, our all-new bed offers an upscale comfort in an economy hotel.
The ibis bed is a high-tech product. The multi-zone, 15cm multi-density mattress is composed of a high-resistance foam with a targeted cell construction that allows it to spring back, night after night.
The mattress cover is of a newly designed 3-D honeycomb fabric that is soft to the touch and ensures absolute hygiene and ideal ventilation. The bed base and flexi-slats are designed to provide unequaled cushioned support up to 500 kg. The 7cm ibis topper offers supreme support and protects the mattress. As effectively well-designed as the mattress, it is your invitation to experience sublime comfort. Thanks to its combed fibres, the new ibis duvet wraps you in silky softness. The inviting new micro-fibre pillows softly support your neck.

Moreover, our 15 minutes promise applies in every service sector. If a guest reports a problem, which is within the responsibility of the hotel, our Ibis teams of the hotel commit themselves to find a solution within 15 minutes – and that 24 hours a day , every weekday. If we can’t find a solution, the guest is considered to be invited.

Ibis is the first hotel brand with certified quality management according to ISO 9001.

This certification, issued by an independent institution, certifies the professionalism of our teams and the reliability of the brand Ibis

Plus, for us at Ibis it has top priority that our valued guests experience a correct, friendly, personal and professional treatment.

Where we actually make the difference to some of the other Ibis hotels, is the fact that we – as a pilot hotel – offer our guests a wide selection of Sky TV channels in the guest rooms and even Sky Sports in the lobby.

And yes, our guest rooms are slightly smaller as our hotel was not originally built as an Ibis hotel. In our Ibis Muenchen City the double rooms are from 14.50 to 16.00 square meters, the equivalent baths have the size of 3.00 to 3.50 square meters. If you have expected larger rooms, of course, you are disappointed. We have the aim to offer adequate good quality at affordable prices at downtown Munich. Among other things, the room size allows us to do this.

Sincerely, Christian Köntopp, General Manager of the Ibis Muenchen City

Hotel is in a central location, easy walking distance from the hauptbahnhof although the surrounding area seemed a bit dodgy. Bathroom is absolutely tiny and flooded every time we used the shower. The room wasn't tiny but it was difficult for us travelling with 2 large suitcases as there was no where to put them. It was not the fault of the hotel but we didn't get much sleep while we were there, both nights we had very noisy guests staying in the room next door. Would recommend this hotel for a stop over but couldn't stay for more than a couple of nights.

Dear Ibis Guest NicoleC,

I wish to thank you for your detailed information about what you experienced, thus giving us the opportunity to come back to you in writing. Your comments are very important for us in order to check on our quality and to improve accordingly,

I am terrible sorry that you did not feel very comfortable with our bathroom size.
In our Ibis Hotel Munich City the rooms have a size of 14.50sqm up to16.00 sqm, the corresponding bathrooms have 3.00 up to 3.50 sqm. If you have expected larger bath rooms, of course you are disappointed. We have the aim to offer adequate good quality at affordable prices at downtown Munich. Among other things, the room size allows us to do this.
Please do not hesitate to contact our colleagues at the reception desk in the future; they would be pleased to take actions to assure an undisturbed night. They would call the other guest to remind them about the necessity of respecting the fact that other guests are trying to sleep.
Concerning your worries about the surrounding of our hotel: we are located in downtown Munich close to the main station, which is a very multicultural neighborhood like in the most capitals, and furthermore, Munich is known as the safest city in Germany
We appreciate your sharing your concerns!

Sincerely,
Christian Koentopp

We had an afternoon arrival and early-morning departure from MUC and stayed at the Ibis by the Hbh rather than an airport hotel. It was wonderful -- just a couple of blocks from the station, another couple of blocks to the Lowenbraukeller for dinner. The rates were reasonable, the staff were friendly, the room was completely silent, and the bed!! The best hotel bed I've ever slept in in my life. We had never stayed in an Ibis before, but will seek this chain out for future trips. The only thumbs down: do *not* buy the "early breakfast," it is ridiculously priced @ 5EU pp for basically nothing at all.

Originally booked here because it was so close to the station bit we ended up hiring a car. Parking is on site and was included. Area feels dodgy at night but a couple of blocks up the road is a great large beer house. Basic ibis standard, not much nearby but a great location to the station

As usual with the Ibis chain, this hotel provides good value. Rooms are just large enough, but clean and not noisy, despite being in a busy street. Its location is very good: a few minutes from the Hauptbahnhof, making it a very good choice if you intend to use Munich as a hub for train-based exploration of Bavarian attractions. It is also close enough to the city center; the Cathedral is about some twenty minutes walk. The nearby station provides also access to the subway network and late night options to eat and shop.
