“An excellent base for touring Munich”
Reviewed January 23, 2009

We stayed at the Eden Hotel Wolff over New Year's 2008 and through the first week of 2009. Check in was easy and fast and the staff was helpful throughout our stay (they helped us get on the right trains to get where we needed to go in and outside of Munich and helped us get added to a tour group to see Neuschwanstein.) I do speak a bit of German, but the whole staff speaks fluent English as well for those who need it.

The location is safe and clean and being right across from the train station was VERY convenient. Walking to landmarks such as the Marienplatz, Hofbrauhaus, etc was a bit chilly in the winter weather, but not a big hassle (we are in our 20s and in good health and traveling without children, though, so your mileage may vary.) We took the Lufthansa airport shuttle and it drops you off literally right in from of the hotel, directly from the airport in Munich.

The room itself was obviously not as large as your average "American" hotel room, but was plenty of room for the two of us (more than that would have been a stretch!) It has all the basic amenities you expect from a good-quality hotel room. We didn't hear a lot of noise at night, but the hotel was also not full at the time we were there so it may have been partially due to that.

The restaurant at the hotel is quite good if a tad pricey (we had breakfast and dinner there once.) There's a coffee shop just down the street from the hotel that we enjoyed a lot.

All in all, it was a great base for our first trip to Munich -- and not all that strenuous on the credit card to boot!

We got a great price on this hotel through hotels.com and it exceeded our expectations. The location was absolutely perfect. It was an easy walk to Marienplatz, Karlsplatz, etc, and literally across the street from the train station. There was a subway entrance within feet of the hotel's front door. This was especially helpful when the temperatures dropped, as we were able to take the subway anywhere in Munich. You can also catch trams right outside the front door.

The lobby was fairly nice, with plenty of places to sit, and a cozy area with couches that was great for reading. A computer with free internet is available for guests on the lobby level. The elevator was large and modern, an important element in a European hotel. The front desk staff was excellent. We relied on them for restaurant reservation and recommendations, and were truly pleased with their suggestions. Also, they were very helpful in organizing day trips and providing recommendations as to transportation, as there are many many different types of tickets available.

The rooms were a bit basic, but the superior room had plenty of room and was adequately heated. It had a down comforter with a removable cover, which is important to me. At night the room was quite noisy because of people passing by on the streets and the noise from trains and trams. Even on the 4th floor we were surprised at the noise, so would recommend asking for a room facing away from the street. The TV only has 1 or 2 English channels.

The bathroom was spacious and had a full bath and shower (and bidet if that matters to you). It had a hair dryer, but the amenities were weak - just soap and a bath gel/shampoo combo. You'll need to bring conditioner or buy some at the drug store next door.

One real plus for this hotel is its lovely bar. The design is modern with dark woods and it features a beautiful fireplace. The drink menu is huge, and the service was great. There are plenty of beer halls around for pubbing, but it was nice to come back to this more sophisticated and convenient spot at night.

I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The food at the hotel's restaurant was excellent Bavarian fare. The room itself was perfect for a single traveler. The bathroom was spotless, the bed comfortable and there was no noise at night. My only complaint, and it is minor, is the fact that the TV reception wasn't good, and there was only one station in English.

We were traveling from Fussen to Interlaken and decided to spend a day in Munich. We walked across the street from the train station and directly into the Eden Hotel Wolff and asked for a room. We obtained a triple room with breakfast included.

The room was clean, however, the bedding was not comfortable. The pull-out sofa sleeper was so bad, we put the mattress on the floor.

The breakfast was very good and included in our price. We paid approximately 190 € for 3 (including breakfast).

The rooms were clean and the staff was very helpful. You can't get a better location then across from the main train station. All of Bavaria is at your feet. The breakfast at the hotel was expensive so we opted to grab something at the train station which has everything you could want for much less. I am going back to Munich in December and have already booked to stay there.

We stayed at Eden Hotel Wolff for two nights. It is located right across the s-bahn (no really! u cross the street and the station is right there!), which makes it really convenient since we took the train from prague to munich. it's roughly 10 to 15 mins walk (i'm a fast walker) to marienplatz and there are also u-bahn stations in front of the hotel. everyone (or most staff) was very friendly and we were able to ask them for extra pillows (because i find them too soft and flat) and an umbrella on a rainy day without any hassle at all. the rooms were styled tastefully (with hardwood floors!) and the washroom was very clean and decent. everything I needed was provided and the bed was huge. I think they put two twin mattresses together to make an extra large bed. We had not tried the breakfast as it was not included in the price but I believe it was around 20 euros per person, which is kind of pricey.

Overall it's a very nice hotel and i would definitely stay there again.

I cannot say enough nice things about this hotel! From a convienence standpoint, this hotel is great. Directly across the street from the Hauptbahnhof and just a 10-15 minute walk to the Marienplatz, Viktualienmarkt and Hofbrauhaus. The hotel's interior is modern, the rooms are spacious and well-appointed. If not included in your room rate, breakfast at the hotel is rather pricey, but very good. The staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful. I think I found my hotel for the next time I go back to Munich!
