We were looking for a room for two adults and two teens. They had a single room for a good price, including breakfast.

Overall, the hotel is quite small, and our room did need a bit of an refurb, but the staff were friendly and helpful.

We found walking to the old town, or to the art museums very easy, and lots of good restaurants fairly close.

I recently stayed at the Antares with a group of friends and students of mine. Their feedback showed that they were all very satisfied with our stay at this Hotel. The positives begin with the location. Just a short walk away from Odeonsplatz, it offers a convenient starting point for exploring Munich. Even attractions that at first seemed relatively far, like the Deutsches Museum for instance, were in fact easily reached on foot.
The hotel has six floors but there are few rooms per floor so the hotel is relatively small. The rooms are o.k.: they were clean and had LCD TVs. Some might argue that the room size is on the "small" side of the spectrum but really there's nothing there to put you off - you won't feel claustrophobic, believe me.
Breakfast was quite good actually: buffet style with eggs, meat balls, salmon, fruit, cereals, yoghurts etc. - the usual stuff that can keep you going for most of the day.
The negatives I would say: (i) no free internet (not that important for me but some might find that a rather serious shortcoming!) (ii) lift was somewhat small (3 people max or 1 person with one luggage).
Would I stay there again? Definitely, yes!

Room Tip: Some rooms have refurbished bathrooms so you might want to ask for one of these when you book.

Let's get the negatives out of the way first. The hotel is not air conditioned and has expensive WIFI.
However the positives start the moment you walk through the door. The check in staff are friendly and welcoming, the rooms are clean with an incredibly comfortable bed and the buffet breakfast has a large variety of hot and cold choices that set us up for the day.
We got over the expensive WIFI by going to the Thai restaurant 50 metres away when we needed connectivity. They left their wifi on all the time, so it was usable even when they were closed.
The hotel is ideally located for the University and the city centre is a short walk away.
This hotel would be our first choice when we return to Munich.

Greatly located in the heart of the university district with many cafes, restaurants, and relaxed atmosphere around. My room was tiny, clean and quiet. Even if it was a smoking room, I did not feel any bad smell there. The staff is nice and extremely helpful, the breakfasts are great. There are two problems: paid internet, which can be used by only one computer, even if I got a good price from them, I am not used to such a situation, especially because I had laptop and tablet, and I could connect only one of them. This is difficult to understand since many cafes around offer free internet. Second serious issue is lack of AC, I was there during extremely hot weather, and I could only survive because my room faced quiet courtyard with some trees, but still, it was quite unpleasant. For some strange reason it is difficult to find budget hotels with AC in this otherwise great city.

Room Tip: rooms facing courtyard are more quiet

The location if fine. It is surrounded by affordable ethnic restaurants (Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, Japanese). A U-bahn station with 4 lines is a few minutes walk away and it is near enough to the city centre to walk. The staff are also friendly.

Everything else is poor. No receptionist before 7:00 AM (only a porter, who can't check you out). WiFi is expensive (24 Euros for three days). Only German channels on the TV (not even CNN or the BBC World). Room was very small and cheaply furnished. While I was there the top floor was being refurbished and the noise between 8:00-17:00 was intolerable.

The room was not that big but clean. At the breakfast-buffet there was enough to choose from.
Parking your car in their garage might be difficult when you have an SUV. Make sure you have your camera ready :).
The City Center is in walking distance. Just great !
The hotel is located in the Unicersity area where you'll find quite some (international) restaurants.
I didn't need it but WiFi is quite expensive. In my opinion it should be free.

Rooms are modest, but clean and warm, which is very important in winter. The breakfast is great, the stuff is extremely friendly and helpful. The location is very comfortable- next to the metro, and you can get to the center by foot in 10-15 minutes.

Room Tip: ask a no-smoking room' cause the smell is terrible.
