Owner description: Bus Bavaria Neuschwanstein Castle Tours has been doing day trips to this famous castle especially for English-speaking guests since May of 2000. This listing has only existed since 2011. Over 15 years we have sent off as close to 100% of our guests enthusiastically satisfied with their choice to join us on this excursion as we believe is realistically possible. Nonetheless, we have, as is our custom with our famous bike tour of Munich (Mike's Bike Tours) raised the bar again and improved our tour in several ways for 2015 and beyond. We know when comparing any and all offers for tours to this destination from Munich that one can easily come to the conclusion that we offer superior value. Our tours include a highly enjoyable, (optional) bike ride on well-maintained, comfortable Cruiser bicycles around the area near the castle, our guide's post-lunch PROFESSIONAL magic show (MOST of the time but not on Wed. & Sun. in the peak season) which is FUN and often downright mind-boggling as well as a few other fun activities such as swimming in a refreshing alpine lake in the middle of the bike ride and the unique opportunity to FLY DIRECTLY OVER THE CASTLE on a tandem paraglide! One can also take a fun ride down an alpine slide! Hence, our Neuschwanstein Castle Tours from Munich are quite unique. We hope you will choose to join us on this fantastic excursion from Munich in the near future so that we may have the opportunity to send you, too, off as nothing less than another FAN of our company.

“Day trip - Munich to Neuschwanstein Castle”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2012

Very enjoyable day trip, very well organized, left at around 9:00 am from near the Hofbrauhaus, returned about 7:15 pm. The tour guide, Brad Daynes, is knowledgeable and keeps the tour moving along at a good pace. First there is an easy bike ride to a nearby lake (the most strenuous part of the ride is the last five minutes on the way back), with optional swimming. Lunch follows, then optional activities (summer luge run, tandem paragliding if weather is good), and a spectacular show of close-up magic by Brad. After the magic show there is a 45 minute hike uphill along a creek to reach the castle and Mary's bridge (overlooks the castle). At the castle, no waiting in line for the tour since Brad has procured timed tickets in advance. The castle tour, given by official tour guides, takes no more than 30 minutes. The castle is worth the visit, with spectacular chandeliers and woodwork. In all, the trip was really enjoyable, with beautiful scenery and fun activities. Brad and the Bus Bavaria team (the same people who run Mike's Bike Tours) made the trip memorable, enjoyable, easy, and fun. A note on the weather: we left Munich in the rain; had little rain during the bike ride before lunch; after lunch, the skies cleared and we had a beautiful afternoon.

“Well organised and fun day out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2012

The trip with Mike's Bike Tours certainly delivered on all its promises, it was well worth the 49 euros. Just one small thing would make the trip better and that would be to play the DVD of Brad the guide when the coach hits the autobahn, instead of as soon when setting off from Munich, as there's too many distraction when leaving the city to be able to concentrate. A varied and enjoyable way to spend a day.

“Awesome day!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2012

After a great city bike tour with Mike's Bike Tours & Rentals, we decided to book the Neuschwanstein Castle Tour and are so glad that we did! The castle is quite a ways from the city of Munich and if we had gone by ourselves we would have had a two hour train or bus ride, a boring hike up to the castle, an anticlimactic tour of the castle and then another two hours back home. With this tour you get a whole day packed with things to do and a truly unique way to experience this fascinating castle.

There is of course no getting around the long bus ride to the castle. However, the bus we rode on was clean and comfortable and offered beverages for only 2 euro. We watched a video that gives a great history of the castle and King Ludwig II, and you will learn much much more than from the official castle tour. Once we got the the area we received our bikes and went for a ride out to Swan Lake. The castle and Austrian Alps act as a backdrop for your ride and you are given plenty of opportunities to take pictures of the castle from a viewpoint that most tourists never get the see. A stop at the lake provides you with the opportunity for a swim and then you continue around the lake and back to the starting point. The ride itself is all flat except that last little bit, where I admit to getting off and walking the rest of the way :)

After the ride it's lunch time. The food is pre-ordered on the bus so it's ready when you get there. The cost of lunch is not included but it's reasonably priced and I suppose you could bring your own lunch if you wanted. The alpine slide is just across the parking lot and for less than 2 euro, it's totally worth it! Then, for a little extra treat, Brad performs a short magic show and I must say, when I first read about this part of the tour I assumed it would be rather but cheesy, but Brad is truly impressive and had everyone's full attention. Don't miss this!

Up next is the hike UP the gorge to the castle. I will say, this is pretty strenuous, but absolutely worth the extra effort if you don't mind breaking a sweat. Remember to bring good shoes! You can also walk (yes more "up") an extra 10 minutes beyond the castle to walk out onto Mary's Bridge where the view of the castle is breathtaking. Then for the castle tour.... yes it's extra (but at a discount and no waiting in the lines as Brad buys the tickets ahead of time) and although I am glad I went in to see the truly extravagant rooms inside, the scripted tour guide is quite possibly the most boring thing ever, especially after spending time with Brad who is so enthusiastic about the castle and King Ludwig. Finally, you walk back down the bus and have a nice movie and cheap drinks to keep you occupied on the way back to Munich.

As you can see, Bus Bavaria truly offers you a full day of activities and make the long trip to the castle worth it. Brad is an incredible guide and I learned so much about King Ludwig II and his opulent castle from him. Check out Mike's Bike Tours & Rentals for their city tour and Dachau tour as well!

“Neuschwanstein Castle”

A fantastic day out. Everything is done for you - no waiting in line to buy castle tickets. An easy an pleasant bike ride Swan Lake, a hike to Mary's bridge (great photo opportunity of the castle) and a tour of the castle - all with lunch (paid separately). Brad (tour guide) was funny, knowlegable and entertaining. Highly recommended.

Absolutely brilliant day out. The shop and meeting point are right in the centre, the coach was comfortable. The bike route was fun and the hike up to the castle was amazing. Brad the magician was a great guide and his after lunch magic was awesome. An absolute must do if you are in Munich.
