Hotel Cristal

Reviewed July 17, 2008

I stayed for 2 nights in late June.
Hotel is centrally located very close (one block) from Banhoff (main train station), from where trains and subway depart everywhere, including airport which is 40 km away. Neighborhood is not very good but totally safe day and night. Munich is a very safe city.
Rooms are big enough for european standards, those facing the street are very noisy due to traffic, ones facing the back are less noisy, but not quiet at all.
Rooms are clean but overall maintenance is just adequate. My room was in a non smoking floor, and there was no smoke odor at all, very good for european standards where regardless of non smoking floors there is moke odor everywhere.
No A/C in rooms neither in lobby or reataurant. Rooms have small fan, that is useless in hot summer days in Munich.
Breakfast is included in price and very good, up to european standards for this kind of hotel.
Receptionists are rather rude, and as well as housekeeping staff try to kick out guests before 11 AM on check out day nevetheless check out time in web page of hotel is suposed to be at 12 noon.
Seems to be an hotel for tourists mainly, not business oriented.

We only stayed here for one night during a quick visit but would recommend to others. We had a triple room that was on the first floor so a bit noisy, but it was clean and spacious. The service was good especially at breakfast which also had one of the best selections I have ever experienced. Car parking was 14 Euro but secure and the hotel was easy to find especially with the help of satnav! We only had 24 hrs in Munich, but the hotel was just about near enough to the centre (not far from station). Would recommend one of the bus tours if you are struggling for time.

Stayed here for 2 nights and everything was excellent. A very large quiet room with every facility, including, free bottle drinks and when asked for tea/coffee maker it was delivered straight away. The reception staff and any member of staff you came across were super nothing was to much trouble, they were always polite and helpful. The buffet breakfast was very good, everything you wanted. The location was very good everywhere was in walking distance and a taxi rank just along the road. This is the third Best Western I have stayed in in the past 6 months and would use them again.

Located a seven-minute walk from the München Hauptbahnhof (main train station) the hotel features clean rooms, friendly service and one of the best breakfasts in Europe. The hotel is blocks from the old town and many of the major museums. Staff is very professional and helpful and even put out snacks in the lobby in the evening. I found the rooms to be very quiet and large. The restaurants in the immediate area close early; however, the Hauptbahnhof features a food court and grocery that is open late. I have stayed at this hotel twice before and both visits were excellent. I highly recommend the breakfast – it is not to be missed and is included with the room.

I had the pleasure to stay at this BW Hotel in Munich. Some of the tripadvisor reviews I read were middle of the road on this hotel, but I went anyway, and am so glad I did!

The service from begining to end was excellent. The guest service response to a minor maintenance issue was first class and caring.

The rooms were bright and modern. the location was perfect for me; one block from the central station for all trains, metro. Neighborhood was not cute, but it was close to a lot of activites and great restaurants (ask about the "old farm house"; nearby Italian).

I wish they would include high speed ,and not old data ports. but I got on line through their T-mobile hot spot for E 30 for the month. Not bad. I wish all hotels would just provide the service.

Rooms were kept immaculate ever day. A good housekeeping staff.

The breakfast: I still have visions of the wonderful service and selection. You name it and it was there. Very German; very european. The breakfast made my day, every day.

Special people include Sabine, Miriam, all front desk, and that nice lady at the breakfast with the warm attitude.

I can tell you that after leaving for a few days and returning, I walked in the front lobby and the smilng guest service professional said 'Welcome back, Mr. ...."

I really felt at home.

We stayed here for a week to visit Munich. We didn't have any of the noise problems described below and were very comfortable throughout our stay. The beds were fine and the room was much larger than other hotels we've stayed at in Europe. The staff at the desk were polite and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious. We also liked the location--convenient to everything.

Very comfortable hotel. Large family suite for 5 available. Expensive garage (same garage for some hotels in the area but more expensive for guests of Cristal !!?? Why ?) Wonderful breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice, different sort of wurst, smoked salmon, cereals, rolls, croissant, ham and cheese, etc. Best quality, plenty of food, immediately replaced if finished. It's a hotel used by businessmen, then very good rates on weekends and holidays. Good location near railway station and walking distance to pedestrian city center. Higly reccomended for families.
